The Brokenstraw Valley Swimming Pool (BVSP) is ADA compliant.
Thanks to a grant from the Ellwood Group, the pool now features a handicapped accessible lift that can lower people into the pool and raise them back out at the touch of a waterproof button, according to Pool Director Lee Bryan.
The Global Lift Corp. rotational lift has a capacity of 375 pounds. The operator can sit, use the remote control to put the seat over the water, push another button to submerge the seat in the 4-foot deep section of the pool, and step out.

According to U.S. Department of Justice Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, public pools with greater than 300-foot perimeter must have two handicapped accessible entry points.
The BVSP now features two accessible points of entry, the lift and a compliant pool access ladder installed last year, Bryan said.
