NILES, Ohio - Scrapping out a win.
After splitting two games in Jamestown, N.Y., the Mahoning Valley Scrappers hosted the Jamestown Jammers on Wednesday, and the teams played the second-straight low-scoring game in a row. The Scrappers pulled out a 2-1 11-inning win to win two out of three in the New York Penn League season-opening series.
Jamestown had two on and one out in the top of the 11th, but failed to score. In the bottom half, a bases-loaded walk gave Mahoning Valley the win.
The Jammers scored just one run on 10 hits, including three from Juancito Martinez - the No. 9 hitter, and two each from Viosergy Rosa, Matt Juengel and Jose Behar. Mason Hope gave up one run in four innings, and Jamestown's relievers Frankie Reed, Brian Ellington, Miguel Fermin and Bryan Berglund threw six shutout innings before Berglund ran into trouble in the 11th and took the loss.
Jamestown (1-2) is at Mahoning Valley Thursday and Batavia on Friday before hosting Batavia on Saturday night.
