Rich Desimone and Troy Johnson had three hits each, and Eric Rosequist, Dan Farr, Don Cummings and Jon Gerarde two each, in Crescent Beer's sixth straight win to start the Over 30 Modified Softball League season. Cummings homered for Crescent (6-0), which had seven extra-base hits.

Kinzua Crush
The Cornerstone Kinzua Crush 16U travel fastpitch softball team played in its first tournament of the 2012 summer season last weekend, placing second at the Ohio Magic ASA Eastern Nationals Qualifier in Youngstown, Ohio, with a 5-1 record. The Crush defeated Poland Pride (8-1), Pittsburgh Pride (7-2), Ohio Hawks (8-1), ROC Elite (5-0), and Ohio Emeralds (6-4), before falling in the championship game to Valley Extreme White from Cortland, Ohio, by a score of 6-3. The team will travel to Drifton this weekend to compete in the ASA Pennsylvania State Championship.
All-star game
After a sophomore season in which he hit .346 with eight doubles and nine RBI, Warren Area High School's Collin Fantaskey has been invited to play in the Under Armour Midwest Future Games Aug. 3-5 at the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. The game includes baseball prospects in the Class of 2014 from Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Each team, and Fantaskey is an outfielder on the Pennsylvania team, will play three games in front of college scouts and will be evaluated.
