Betts brought the bats - again - to stay unbeaten in the Richard T. Betts Rec Modified Softball League.
Specifically, three batters had monster nights.
Against the defending league champs in Nic-L-Inn, Betts broke out with 16 runs over the last three innings in an 18-6 win. Jeff Eaton was 5-for-5 with a home run and three doubles, Ed Baldensperger 4-for-4, and T.J. Latimer had three hits, including two doubles. Betts had 13 extra-base hits in its eighth-straight win.

Merry go-round

In the nightcap, Betts needed Eaton, Baldensperger and Latimer, and more, to come back from a 10-0 deficit to defeat Crescent Beer, 23-13, in six innings and improve to 9-0. Baldensperger was 5-for-5 - finishing 9-for-9 on the day, and Eaton was 4-for-5 with a double and two more home runs. One of Eaton's home runs was a grand slam, and he finished with seven extra-base hits in two games. Latimer chipped in another three hits, including a homer and double.
Rick Eaton scattered nine hits in the first game, and came on in relief in the second game, allowing just four hits in the final four innings for his second win of the night.
Nick Bryan and Dave Stuart paced Crescent with three hits each. Eleven of Crescent's 15 hits came in the first two innings.
Craco also topped Nic-L-Inn to improve to 5-4. Ben Oviatt and Todd Rudolph both had three hits, including homers, in the win, and Adam Paden and Trevor Colvin also banged out home runs.
