JEANNE KYLANDER

Jeanne Kylander, age 79 of Warren, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 7, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 26, 1932 in Washington, Pennsylvania, a daughter to the late Samuel and Kathryn (Murphy) Reedy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Frederick Kylander, whom she married on February 2, 1957 and who passed away on August 18, 1981.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Kathryn Wenger of Landisville, Pennsylvania; Fred Kylander and his wife, Andrea Stapleford, of Warren, Pennsylvania; Janet and Fred Manning of Frederick, Maryland; and Jude and Trent Black of Byesville, Ohio. She is also survived by her brother, Samuel Reedy, and his wife, Jean, of Oklahoma. Jeanne will be remembered by thirteen grandchildren, Emily, Amanda, Mark, and Anna Wenger; John Kylander; Sarah and Matt Stapleford; Margot, Eliza, and Jack Manning; and Parker, Davis, and Addy Black.

Jeanne was a member of First Lutheran Church of Warren. She graduated from Washington High School in Washington, Pennsylvania, in 1952, and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Economics from Thiel College in 1956. Honored by Who's Who in American Colleges, Jeanne was a leader of many organizations throughout her life. Jeanne was a talented athlete; in her senior year at Thiel, she received the award as the top female scholarathlete. She encouraged all of her children and grandchildren to participate in athletics and was their biggest fan. Jeanne was an avid traveler and enjoyed spending her free time with her family.

In 1981, she founded Kylander Oil Company and was active in the company for the past 30 years. Jeanne was always involved in the lives of many friends, families and neighbors; she will best be remembered as a person who cared for others.

In keeping with her wishes, family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service which will be held on Saturday, June 16 at 11:00 a.m. at the family farm at 1370 Jackson Avenue with a reception to follow.
