Crescent Beer is making a habit of big innings early on in the Over 30 Modified Softball League.
On Tuesday at Betts Park, Dan Farr had a grand slam and a three-run home run in a 10-run third inning of a 16-3 win over Meridien Hardwood.
Farr, Jeff Berdine, Rick Eaton, Mark Massa and Jon Gerarde had two hits each for Crescent, which is 5-0 on the season.
Jake Tkach and Scott Wilson turned a nice double play int he first inning for Mangione Beverage (3-1) and Ed Baldensperger did the rest, spinning a four-hit shutout, 12-0 over American Legion. "Baldy" was also 2-for-3, offensively, in the win.
Midtown Motors racked up 17 hits and 12 runs and came back from an early 5-1 deficit to take home a 12-7 victory over Freddie's Tuesday night in the Over 30 Modified Softball League. Dave Klemons had two doubles and a triple and Dave Zembardo and Jeremy Anthony each doubled. Ryan Johnson added a triple while Zembardo earned the win.
Kwik Fill improved to 3-2 on the season with a 13-9 victory over Blue Ribbon Rentals. Andy Taylor doubled for the winners and Larry VanCise registered six strikeouts. Nick Bryan doubled, Troy Weissinger tripled and Dave Johnson homered in defeat for Blue Ribbon.
Brian Bennett struck out eight in a four-hit win for Accent Staffing over Club Buck. Mike Garrett and Quintin Miller were each 2-for-3 for Accent.
