Space is still available in every age group of the Warren County Conservation District summer camp programs. Children's Nature Camp (CNC) is a fun, hands-on experience designed for children ages 6 11 to learn and discover the uniqueness and importance of plants and animals in our local environment.
CNC will be held from 9 a.m. till 2 p.m. at the pavilion of the Hatch Run Conservation Demonstration Area on the Hatch Run Road in Warren. Dates for these camps are as follows: CNC I (6-7 year olds) July 9-10; CNC II (8-9 year olds) July 12-13; CNC III (10-11 year olds) July 17-19.
There is a $35 per-child, non-refundable fee to attend CNC. This fee covers the cost of the special guest speakers, food for snacks, and basic materials and supplies for camp.
Each day, your child will be responsible for bringing a packed lunch to eat. (The fee does not cover lunches.) Camp will be outdoors, rain or shine, so children should be dressed with shoes for walking and clothes for the weather.
Youth Conservation Camp (YCC) is a three day overnight camp for 12 14 year olds based out of the Brokenstraw Fish and Game Club in Pittsfield, PA. The majority of the time is spent "in the field" where campers learn about conservation, soil, stewardship, aquatics, resource management, ecology, and more. The fee for this camp is $50.00 per child. A limited number of scholarships are available. Dates for this camp are June 19-20.
Simply fill out the registration forms found on the Conservation District's website at www.wccounservation.net or call Jean Gomory at 726-1441 and mail the completed form with a check or money order made out to the Warren County Conservation District to 210 North Drive, Suite E, Warren, PA 16365. Please use a separate form for each child, but enclose one check for the full amount. You will be contacted with further information at a later date. Children's Nature Camp is limited to a maximum of 25 participants each and Youth Conservation Camp is limited to a maximum of 20 participants. Applicant selection will be based on a first come, first serve basis. Deadlines for registration is June 11 for CNC's, children registering for YCC after today are not guaranteed a t-shirt in their size but please indicate a size on the registration sheet.
