Local seniors plan busy week

Lunches

The Warren-Forest Area Agency on Aging will serve the following menu at Allegheny Community Center and other Warren-Forest centers June 4-8: spaghetti Monday, soup and sandwich Tuesday, hamloaf Wednesday, Swedish meatballs Thursday and cheese omelette Friday. Locations at Marienville, Sheffield, Tidioute and Endeavor will serve menus from Monday, Tuesday and Friday for the three-day sites. Eligible participation is 60 years and older with a suggested donation of $3. Call 723-3763 for information regarding congregate meal sites or center locations. Menu is subject to change based on availability.

The month of June brings the always popular Farmers Market vouchers which will be distributed June 4 from 9 to 11 a.m. To be eligible you must be at least 60 and income guideline of $20,665 single or $27,991 couple. Please bring ID.

Senior games will be June 13 Betts Park from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., so sign up to ride the bus. The cost of participation is only $6 and includes lunch of sloppy joes. Registration forms are available here at the center.

The annual boat ride is July 24, and we are off to Cleveland aboard Goodtime for a lunch cruise of Lake Erie. Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is our next stop to enjoy music of our era. The cost is $95 with a pick up in Warren and Sheffield.

The next extended trip is a nine-day/eight-night cruise aboard Enchantment of the Seas from September 20-28. We will be leaving from Baltimore with the first stop in Portland, on to Bar Harbor, Me., Bay of Fundy and on to Nova Scotia. Prices from $999 and deadline for sign up is June 5.

The first picnic of the year is June 28 here at the center. Bring a wrapped gift to be auctioned off.

Carol Brocius, from the Sight Center of NW PA, will be at ACC on Thursday, June 7, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Screening includes visual acuity, macular degeneration and glaucoma and is free. Public is welcome.

Special reminder that Senior Games of Warren and Forest Counties, coordinated annually by RSVP & YVC, will be held on Wednesday, June 13 at Betts Park DeFrees Pavilion. All seniors are invited to participate in the games or to be part of the cheering section that day followed by a nice lunch. Plus, there will be entertainment by Ron Carrington. Good times and good food! You need to register to do this. Stop by ACC for a registration form which must be completed and returned, along with your money, no later than June 8. Game participants need to be there at 9 a.m. with games beginning at 9:45 a.m. Just call the RSVP office at 723-7751 or stop by ACC for more information. Please bring your own lawn chair.

All non-casino trips leave from the CRI parking lot located on Pennsylvania Avenue West, just over the railroad tracks on the left (along the river) unless otherwise instructed to park elsewhere. Salamanca Casino trips depart from the Big Lots parking lot at the Warren Mall, as always. Not sure, just call 723-3237!

ACC is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. M-F with extended hours until 7 p.m. on Mon. & Wed. ACC is closed for all activities and meals on legal holidays. Hot lunches are available Mondays-Fridays at noon. You can call your reservation to 723-3237. Bistro lunch is available on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. No reservation required.
