Dear editor:
I often hear disparaging remarks about Warren and Warren County. Some are essentially a manifestation of the negativity inherent in some of our neighbors with little else to do than complain, and others truly describe opportunities for improvement which are realities for all of us.
On the contrary, however, I wish to describe an incident which happened to me last week in the parking lot of Wal-Mart. As I stood next to my truck with the hood up, changing eight spark plugs, no less than four different motorists stopped and asked if everything was all right, or if I needed help: a woman, a woman and a child, a man, and two young men.
That indicated to me that we live among compassionate people, capable of sympathy, empathy and concern for the well-being of one another. Thank you to those who offered help; my faith in, and love for, Warren and Warren County have been increased yet again!
Eric Olson,
Warren
