WCSD obituary

May 22, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

I am here looking at a white metal item that is beginning to loose its newness. There is a statement inside that reads:

"You are #1 with us" and it is from Warren Area Elemtary Center when a group of interested and dedicated volunteers from my church taught via the Hope Tutoring Center at 1st Presby. Now I read about more cuts and layoffs in the Warren School system. Some person even suggested that we get rid of all the teaching assistants while others stated that large classroooms aren't such a bother. They must be very young!

Being the SSC (Sound Senior Citizen) that I am 97 percent of the time, I would like to suggest that the Warren County School Board and the Warren County School Administretion make an enormous gesture of love and devotion to our young ones and our loving and devoted teachers, librarians, TA's and custodian personnel and all those who will be affected if the cuts happen. They take a pay cut!

The board is paid-right? I know the big cahoonas at the offices are paid. Has no one has ever heard of of what happens if you weaken the supports of table/bridge! It will come crashing down on ALL!

And as for the parents helping them-the majority do-I have seen it. The parents/grandparents or another who helps the children know this is important because someone did it for them.

The point is our parents wanted things better for us than what was dealt them and if our parents were lucky enough to attend college or a medical/tech/trade/business college that made it ev en more important to give their children a chance at a better life than they had.

What a dream-fullied it would be if the school board and the administrators/others made the supreme sacrifice and donated their own portion of their salaries, some have other jobs-right?, to help keep things going the way they should-as best as possible a so our teachers & et. al. don't become the sacrificial lambs.

The Lord said once "Surrender the children and let them come unto me."

Oh God, Forgive us if we do fail to forget our future, our children. Amen.
