Dear editor:
Yes, that is quite the burger featured on the front page of today's newspaper (May 16, 2012). Couldn't the promoters of the Gus Macker Tournament and the Allegheny Burger Festival have come up with a better way to promote these worthwhile events than to waste good food?
I have a suggestion - publish pictures of the food being donated to a local food bank. There are so many people in our area going hungry every day. None of the participants look as though they are wondering where their next meal is coming from.
What happened to the uneaten food? My guess is that it ended up in a dumpster. None of it would have gone uneaten at a food bank.
What would Wimpy do? Maybe he'd feed the hungry. Maybe he'd choose to give that food to those who really need it.
