TRAPSHOOTING: Corry defends its trap title

May 18, 2012
The Times Observer

The Warren County Scholastic Trap League championship was won by the lone team from outside the county.

Corry, just across the border in Erie County, locked up its second straight league championship with a 174-170 victory over Warren White Tuesday at Kalbfus Rod & Gun Club. The win gave Corry first place with 12 team points (two points per victory) while Warren White fell into a second-place tie with Eisenhower in the final standings with eight points.

The Beavers won the title in fine fashion, posting the highest team score in league history. The Beavers broke 174 out of 175 targets, getting perfect 25's from Ashley Walton, Dalton Sipes, John Walton, Landon Crawford, Dillen Miller and Jeremy Palmer.

Corry needed every ounce of its record-setting performance as Warren White was close behind with 170 points. Jake Park, Drew Lobdell and Eric Cecco were all perfect for the Dragons.

In other competition, Eisenhower fought off Sheffield, 166-162, to earn a share of second place and Youngsville topped Tidioute, 165-149. Warren Blue was on bye this week, finishing with a score of 160.

Kyle Repine, Brandon VanCise, Jon Shelton, Steven Haner and Hunter Keppel all fired 24's to lead the Knights and the Wolverines got those same marks from Noah Heeter, Tyler Wees and Zach Anderson. Youngsville was led the perfect score of Levi Ecelberger and the Bulldogs got 23's from Jordan Yeager and Brian Bonner. Blake Montour was perfect on the bye week for Warren Blue.
