I'm not sure this was a difficult decision. Warren's boys tennis team swept its way to the best season in the program's history - all in a week's time. Already the Region 2 champion at 16-0, with two backbreaking matches against region- and District 10-power Fairview, Shane Burns outlasted 38 others to win the D-10 singles championship on a Monday. Teammates Thomas Pellegrino and Matt Sandberg won the D-10 doubles title two days later. Two days after that, Warren won its first-ever District 10 Class AAA team championship with a grueling 3-2 win over 11-time defending D-10 champion Fairview. Earlier this week, coaches Jeff Bartsch's and Norm Dziendziel's crew won a state playoff match. The Dragons play in the state quarterfinals at 8 a.m. Friday at the Hershey Racquet Club against District 3 champion Wyomissing. There are only district champions on Warren's side of the bracket - Warren included. The Dragons - all of them -are the Times Observer Athletes of the Week, sponsored by McDonald's.
