Chicken BBQ

The Lander Fire Hall Department will be having a Chicken BBQ on Sunday, May 13th from noon- until gone. The menu will be BBQ chicken, homemade macaroni salad, apple sauce, roll, beverage, and a make your own sundae. The cost is $7 for eat in or take out. The proceeds benefit the Lander Fire Hall.

Cruise In

The Annual Sugar Grove Cruise In will be Friday, May 25, from 4 8 p.m. There is a $7 entry fee at the firehall and the proceeds will benefit the Sugar Grove Community Development Council. The first 100 cars or motorcycles will receive a dash plaque. This event happens rain or shine. Come on out and enjoy the oldies music and chicken BBQ. EMHS Concert

Eisenhower High School Senior Choir presents a Spring Concert tonight at 7 in the EMHS auditorium. The 50-member choir will sing a variety of music-gospel, classical, Broadway, pop, and country. Donations will be accepted at the door. There is opportunity before the concert and during intermission to view the EMHS Art Show on display in the courtyard and adjoining hallways.

Boston tour

The AMVETS National Commander, Gary Fry, of Sugar Grove recently toured AMVETS Department of Massachusetts. While on tour the United States Flag was flown over the USS Constitution in honor of the AMVETS National Commander. He was accompanied on this tour by his wife, Judy Fry.

WCSD schedule

Reminder there will be no classes on Monday, May 28 for students in the Warren County School District in observance of Memorial Day. The last day of school will be Friday, June 8th.

School hearing

The Warren County School District is holding a school closing hearing on the Sugar Grove Elementary School on Monday, June 4th. At this time, there is discussion to close the Sugar Grove Elementary school. The hearing will be held at the Struthers Library Theater in Warren and begin at 7 p.m. Members of the general public from Sugar Grove who would like to voice their opinion should plan to attend this meeting.

Summer camp

The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Summer Day Camp Program is now taking registrations for the coming 2012 summer. The Day Camp offers different options - full-time,

part-time, or drop-in day care services or weekly camp enrollment. The Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church has been granted a license by the State of Pennsylvania for day care services. The Summer Day Camp facilities, program, and staff meet all state regulations for a licensed day care and do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, handicap, ancestry, national origin, age, or sex.

The camp is now certified in New York State and can take subsidized children from Chautauqua County. Assistance to defray the daily fees of the Summer Day Camp Program is available through the Subsidized Child Day Care Program in Pennsylvania. Contact the Economic Opportunities Council of Warren County at 726-1361.

The facility will be open Monday through Friday, 6:45 a.m. to 6 p.m., from June 11th through August 17th. If you would like more information on the Summer Day Program or on the Subsidization Program, please call the church office at 489-3105.
