ERIE - The District 10 champion Warren boys tennis team defeated Winchester Thurston, 3-2, on Tuesday afternoon in the PIAA Class AA Boys Tennis Championships at Pennbriar Athletic Club. The Dragons will continue their magical season with a trip to Hershey for the Class AA quarterfinals.
Warren already has a region title, singles championship (Shane Burns), doubles title (Matt Sandberg and Thomas Pellegrino) and District 10 team championship for the season. This is Warren's first trip to team states, so obviously its first victory. Winchester Thurston was the third-place team out of the WPIAL (Pittsburgh Area).
Warren received singles wins from Matt Sandberg and Thomas Pellegrino and a doubles win from Drew Lobdell and Nick Tarpenning.
