Tanner Stanz shut down the Meadville bats, and Hank Morrison and Matt Jaskolka both homered, as Warren cruised to an easy 10-0 non-region victory on Monday night over Meadville.
Stanz, a freshman making his first start of the year for the Dragons (13-2), and only his second varsity appearance, dominated the Bulldogs for five innings, allowing only one hit while striking out six.
Despite it being senior recognition night, Stanz was pressed into duty after the Dragons recently played four games in a five-day period. The seniors made their impact on offense.

Freshman Tanner Stanz starts his delivery to a Meadville opponent during Monday nights game at Old Legion Field. Stanz didn’t pitch like a freshman, earning the win in his first career start while allowing only one hit and striking out six.
Jaskolka started them off with a solo home run in the second inning before the offense exploded in the third. Kory Thomas doubled, Andrew Bevevino walked, and Morrison smacked a no-doubter to left field to give the Dragons a 4-0 lead. After a Kevin VanOrd single, Jaskolka ripped a double, and both runners came around to score on a Ed Dorunda double. Thomas knocked in another run in his second plate appearance of the inning.
Dorunda, Dan Maeder, and Chris Danielson each provided an RBI single in the fourth.
Every Dragon starter either knocked in or scored a run.
"Our bats came alive tonight," said Warren head coach Jeff Passaro. "We've been a little funk the last few games, so it was nice to have some offense. And Tanner pitched great in his first start. Normally, we'd have a senior go on senior recognition night, but with the amount of games we've played we had to change it up."
The Dragons will travel to Corry on Wednesday for their final region game. A win guarantees them at least a share of the Regin 8 title.
