Mark Thompson had low gross of 40 and Pat Hultquist had low net of 29 in Senior Men's Golf League play Friday at Cable Hollow Golf Club. Dick Whiting, Art Cagle, Ed Humbert and Hultquist shared the high point total with eight and Thompson had the most pars with six. Ron Steffey, Dale Martin, Dave Ford, Bill Baglia, Hank Mole and Tom White all had birdies during play.

The Warren County Horseshoes League will open play at 6 p.m. Monday at the Warren County Fairgrounds. All members need to be present.
College news
Warren Area High School graduate Cody Bupp finished top five in two events last weekend for Penn State Behrend's men's track team at the Mason Dixon Championships in Gwynedd Valley, Pa. He finished fifth in the 110-meter hurdles in 16.26 seconds, and fifth in the 400 hurdles at 58 seconds.
Eisenhower graduate Alex Yaegle was third there in the javelin at 174.05 feet.
Bupp tied the Penn State Behrend school record in the 200-meter dash on Friday at the Gator Invitational at Allegheny College in 22.49 seconds. He finished 14th out of 30 in the race final.
Warren graduate Katie Spade took fifth out of 24 in the women's 800-meter finals at the Gator Invitational in 2:17.51. She was second out of 21 the week before at the Mason Dixon Championships with a 2:21.12, and second there in the 1500 in 5:53.91, less than a second behind the winner.

In his 17th season as head softball coach at Division I Lehigh University, Warren grad Fran Troyan led his Mountain Hawks to their second straight Patriot League Tournament title on Saturday. Lehigh is 40-17 on the season with the 2-0 finals win over Army, and will make its ninth NCAA regionals trip. Troyan's record there as head coach is 578-310-5, and Lehigh has captured 12 straight Patriot League regular season titles.
PIAA?tennis
In the first round of the PIClass AA playoffs, the Warren Dragons will play Winchester Thurston at 12 p.m. Tuesday at the Pennbriar Athletic Club in Erie. Thurston is the third place team in the WPIAL out of Pittsburgh. The winner of the match will move on to Hershey and the PIAA?quarterfinals.
