ERIE - Warren had no problem routing Central, 11-1, on Thursday night in a Region 6 game at Central.
"We came out a little slow, but we haven't played for a few days," said Warren coach Mark Bupp, whose Lady Dragons are 14-1 overall and 12-1 and tied for first place in the loss column with Fort LeBoeuf. "Once they got into the flow of the game, I was really pleased with how we finished."
In the first inning, Alexa Bupp would hit her first double of the night, setting up a sacrifice fly by Kristin Hultquist.

Easy out

The scoring didn't stop in the second inning.
With two on, Kaitlin Ishman smacked an RBI double, and Eaton would get her first RBI of the night on an infield ground out.
Ishman set the field on fire again in the fourth when she blasted a three-run homer. Alexa Bupp blasted a solo shot of her own, making the score 7-1 to put the game out of reach for Central.
Hultquist would cap off a five-run fifth inning with a big three-run homer - Warren's third in two innings - to bring the score to its final tally, 12-1.
"At the plate, Ishman had a big game today," said Bupp. "I was very happy that Hultquist, one of our seniors, had such a big game at the plate. Alexa also had three hits (two doubles and a homer); those three really led us at the plate today."
Alexa Bupp had a huge day on the other side as the winning pitcher, racking up 12 strikeouts.
"I want to credit Jaimie Eaton with a good day at the plate," said coach Bupp. "She was selective and drove in two runs by getting the ball where she needed to."
Ishman and Alexa Bupp have seven home runs each on the season.
Warren hosts Mercyhurst Prep at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Iroquois 14, Eisenhower 5
Flashes of brilliance weren't enough for the Eisenhower Knights on Thursday, and they ended up dropping the game against Iroquois, 14-5.
"We had it 5-2 at one point, and we had some opportunities to score but it just didn't happen," said Ike coach R.J. Williams.
Down 2-0 in the first, Kelsey Repke got the Knights on the board when she got on base with a huge triple to left-center before being driven in by a Kristen Williams' sac fly.
After getting on base with a single in the third, Repke would score again after singles from Kristen Williams and Natasha Morrison.
With the bases loaded in two straight innings, the Knights looked like they might be able to close the gap, but when their batting momentum stalled, Iroquois took control with a seven-run inning in the fourth.
"After we stalled out we got back on the field and the wheels just fell off," said coach Williams.
Down 12-2, the Knights enjoyed a brief late-game three-run rally before the visiting Braves could shut down their bats.
"There were some girls that hadn't been hitting well but they did today, it hopefully gave them some confidence," said coach Williams. "We need to take the momentum at the plate and carry it over to tomorrow. We'll have to something different in the field."

North East 6, Youngsville 2
The Eagles could not hang on to an early lead, and fell to the GrapePickers on Thursday evening.
North East improved its record to 11-4, while the Eagles dropped to 7-8 overall.
Youngsville had a early opportunity to do damage, loading the bases with nobody out in the first inning. However, the Eagles failed to capitalize, striking out three consecutive times.
In the second inning, the Eagles put together a rally to score their only two runs of the game. Jessica Jameson started the rally with a one-out single before Julia Sveda reached on an error. After a fielder's choice groundout advanced both runners, Kennedy Cratty blooped a single into the outfield to score both runners.
A costly Eagles error in the fourth inning that should have been the third out gave the GrapePickers new life, and they proceeded to knock in four runs to take the lead. They added two more in the fifth.
"Today was one of the most uninspired efforts I've seen in over 20 years of coaching," Youngsville coach Mark Nyquist said. "I'm just very disappointed. There was no effort... We just didn't look like a high school team."

It was a tough day on the diamond for the 2-11 Sheffield softball team as the Lady Wolverines dropped a 16-0 decision to visiting Elk County Catholic.
Anna Baldensperger had the Wolverines' only hit in the five-inning outing.
The Wolverines are off until Tuesday when they host Kane in doubleheader action.
