Six plead guilty during arraignment court

Six defendants entered guilty pleas during Warren County Central Court on Thursday with Judge Maureen Skerda presiding. Eleven defendants pleaded not guilty and a bench warrant was issued.

The following defendants pleaded guilty:

Michael Darren Knight, 22 Buchanan St., to a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and a charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana. Charges of resisting arrest or other law enforcement and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia were not prosecuted.

Robert Louis Machemer, 222 N. Carver St., to a count of simple assault. A charge of recklessly endangering another person was not prosecuted.

Jacob Edward Smith, 30 E. Wayne St., to a count of corruption of minors.

Steven R. Snyder, 108 Oak St., Apt. 1, to a count of resisting arrest or other law enforcement and two counts of disorderly conduct. The proceeding was interrupted by a mental health counselor with knowledge of Snyder's mental state. The counselor advised the court that Snyder was on psychotropic medication and therefore may not have understood what he was doing. Public Defender John Parroccini told the court he had spoken extensively with Snyder about the possible repercussions of his plea and his rights. Skerda questioned Snyder at length to verify his understanding before accepting his plea. Skerda ordered Parroccini to compile a mental health history on Snyder prior to sentencing. A charge of aggravated assault (injury to a police officer) was not prosecuted.

Wanda Lela Streit, 28 Tan St., Sheffield, to a downgraded misdemeanor charge of theft by unlawful taking. A charge of possession of a controlled substance was not prosecuted.

Adam D. Vincent, 111 Sandstone Ln., Tidioute, to a downgraded misdemeanor charge of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer, a charge of DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16+) and a charge of traffic control signals. Charges of DUI: general impairment-incapable of safe driving, tire equipment and traction surfaces, driving on right side of roadway, limitations on overtaking on the left, stop signs and yield signs, turning movements and required signals, driving vehicle at safe speed, reckless driving and restraint systems were not prosecuted.

The following defendants entered not guilty pleas:

Michael S. Albaugh, 1070 Weiler Rd., to charges of DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16+), DUI: general impairment-incapable of safe driving and maximum speed limits.

James Arthur Alexander, 17 Lovely Ln., Mill Hall, Pa., to charges of access device fraud, theft by deception and theft by unlawful taking.

On behalf of Stephen P. Bashaw, 108 Oak St., Parroccini entered a plea of not guilty to charges of resisting arrest or other law enforcement, disorderly conduct and retail theft. Bashaw is currently awaiting psychiatric evaluation and was unable to enter a valid plea when asked by Skerda.

Gizelle M. Carnahan, 258 Hill Rd., Pittsfield, to charges of DUI: general impairment-incapable of safe driving, DUI: general impairment-incapable of safe driving with accident, DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16+), driving on right side of roadway, driving on roadways laned for traffic, driving vehicle at safe speed and careless driving.

Adam R. Clark, 16 1/2 Hinkle St., to charges of simple assault and harassment.

Troy A. Dew, 1200 York Hill Rd., Pittsfield, to charges of criminal mischief and theft by unlawful taking or disposition.

Kimberly L. Gnage, 315 East Danielle Ct., Mary Esther, Fla., to charges of defiant trespass, resisting arrest or other law enforcement and false identification to law enforcement.

Dustin J. Gregory, 910 Jones Hill Rd., Sugar Grove, to charges of criminal attempt (burglary) and criminal attempt (theft).

Beth A. Mortland, 393 Page Hollow Rd., to five counts of bad checks.

James V. Sanford, 105 Cott St., Jamestown, N.Y., to charges of stalking, criminal trespass and harassment/stalking.

Reginald G. Wiltsie, 310 Main St., Sugar Grove, to charges of DUI: general impairment-incapable of safe driving, DUI: highest rate of alcohol (BAC .16+), driving on roadways laned for traffic, driving vehicle at safe speed, careless driving and restraint systems.

A bench warrant was issued for Harry S. Snyder, 108 Water St., for failure to appear in court.
