"George Fitch is very close with the javelin. I'm hoping tomorrow (at the county meet) he can get that extra couple of feet that he needs," added Gould.
Other Sheffield winners included Wright in the 800, Steve Dendy in the 300 hurdles, Evan Jamison in the long jump, Mark Sprandle in the triple jump and George Fitch in both the discus and javelin.
Despite a strong showing in the field events, the Sheffield girls couldn't get enough wins on the track.
"The field girls did very well today, but as a whole, I expect the team to do better," said Sheffield girls coach Janelle Johnson.
Whether it was the end of the season, or just the weather, the girls team just couldn't find the motivation it needed.
"The track was lacking," said Johnson. "We only had one first place."
Even though it was a rough meet, the girls will soon be able to redeem themselves.
"We talked about it at the end of the meet and decided that we have to go into the (Warren County Track Meet) with a 100 percent different mindset and that today was just practice," added Johnson.
Morgan Leichtenberger was the lone track winner, winning the 100 hurdles in just 19.2 seconds.
The Wolverines had much better luck in the field.
Jen Isenberg won the discus with a throw of 76 feet and one inch and the high jump by clearing four-ten. Jade Moore was the winner in the long jump, Ashley Davidson claimed victory in the triple jump and Tierra Hansen won the shot with a throw of 27 feet and six inches.
The Wolverines will join the rest of the county at Thursday's Warren County Track Meet at War Memorial Field.
