Finally - the Youngsville baseball team came out on the winning end of a close score.
Getting a strong combined pitching effort from starter Josh Lewis and reliever Cory Craig, the Youngsville Eagles improved to 3-9 with a 1-0 victory over Seneca Wednesday at Davis Street Field. The Bobcats are now 4-11 on the season.
Youngsville plated what would prove to be the game's only run in the bottom of the second inning. Sawyer Dininny started the rally with a single and Dan McLaughlin and Thomas Henry drew back-to-back walks to load the bases. Jake Marino followed with a frozen rope RBI single to make it 1-0, but the hosts couldn't extend the inning.

Sound the Horn
Youngsville’s Broc Horn takes a mean cut at a Seneca pitch during a baseball game between the teams Wednesday at Davis Street?Field. Horn and the Eagles earned their third victory of the season with a 1-0 triumph.
Youngsville's pitching made sure the run stood up. Lewis started the game for the Eagles and pitched five strong innings, giving up just two hits and striking out four. Craig finished the game off, allowing just one hit while recording all six of his outs via the strikeout.
Craig extended his streak of innings without allowing an earned run to 28.
Craig has pitched well in several of his outings this season, but a lack of offense in those games has kept him winless on the year. On Wednesday, he was credited with his first save.

"Josh pitched a really nice game," said Youngsville coach Tom Craig. "He got roped pretty hard his last two games so tonight was a nice response from him."
Marino went 2-for-2 for the Eagles and Broc Horn also added a single. Dinniny's single was the only other Eagles base hit.
The Eagles are back in region action Friday when they travel to Mercyhurst Prep.

Titusville 11, Eisenhower 2
Eisenhower's final tuneup before four consecutive region games didn't go well as the Knights dropped to 4-8 after an 11-2 loss to Titusville Wednesday at Werner Park in Russell.
"We're hitting the ball hard right now, but we're not doing it with runners in scoring position," said Eisenhower coach Jon Vincent. "If we're going to do anything in this region, we're going to have to start coming up with some timely hits."
The Knights were knocked out of Wednesday's game early as four walks from Ike pitching and an RBI double and three-run double from Titusville hitters gave the visitors a 5-0 lead before the Knights even came to bat.
By the time Eisenhower finally broke through with a pair of runs in the fifth, it already trailed 9-0. Kyle Hunt led off the fifth with a single and scored on an RBI double from Joe Rutsky. Moments later, Rutsky scored on an RBI double by Ryan Williams.
Despite scoring just two runs, the Knights managed to crank out 10 hits. Aaron Lundmark was a stout 3-for-4 for Eisenhower and Hunt, Williams and Rutsky added two hits of their own. Jeb Fedorchuk also had a hit in defeat.
Eisenhower is back in action Thursday at Iroquois before hosting Youngsville at 10 a.m. Saturday.
