Letter home

May 10, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

Ok, so my kids go to WAEC and South St. Elementary and we have had the normal battles of head lice, pink eye, the flu etc. without having a single letter sent home letting us know that it is in the classroom.

Ok, I understand you don't have the funds or resources to buy the paper to print the letters on for that, BUT you have the paper to send a letter home saying that "Someone at WAEC thought you may be interested in Milton Hershey School.

For those of you who don't know what that is, it is a boarding school for low income families that goes year round, 7 days a week from 10 am to 3 pm.

I am extremely offended that I got this information sent home to me. I know there are parents out there that will disagree with me being offended, but I love my kids and I enjoy spending time with my kids. We may be a low income family but my kids always have everything they need and most things they don't need but want.

So, no thank you. I will not be sending my kid away just so you can have one less kid that you don't teach! I did some calling and come to find out the school did not have permission to even send the letters home so what I would like to know is why they are sending these papers home when they are not allowed to?

I would appreciate it if you would just do your jobs instead of trying to single my child out and send her away just because she is from a low income family. Thank You
