OIL CITY - Youngsville's girls track team got its second win of the season - on Tuesday over Class AAA Oil City.
"We're not quite where we need to be for districts, but we're getting there," said Youngsville girls track coach John Victor after a 90-54 win.
"Everybody just about PR'd," he said. "All out hard work showed today, because the girls are all getting better."
The Lady Eagles won 11 events, including the 100 hurdles in which senior Cassie Swartzbaugh once again broke the Youngsville High School record with a time of 16.56 seconds.
The 4X800 relay team of Aubrey Hendrickson, Kellie Lindstrom, Katelyn Maille and Lexi Robinault won, as did the 4X400 team of Abbie Swartzbaugh, Cassie Swartzbaugh, Abbey McLaughlin and Robinault. Cassie Swartzbaugh also won in the 300 hurdles, and McLaughlin won in the 100, 200 and 400.
Piper Olsen was first in the 1600, Robinault in the 800, Maille in the 3200, and Abbie Swartzbaugh won the high jump.
Youngsville's boys track team fell to the Oilers, 95-42, but got good efforts from several athletes, including Rocco Gatta.
"As far as placewinners, Rocco Gatta was strong again in the 100, and won the 200 and 400," said Youngsville boys coach Jeff Manelick. " (Mike)Hamrick was pretty solid behind him in both the 100 and 200, and Mike also won the triple. He had a pretty decent long jump.
"Both Andy (Lalwani) and Zach (Ishman) lowered their times in the 300 hurdles," said Manelick. "In the field, (Jordan) Gurdak had a personal best in the shot by over three feet. Nathan Wilcox threw quite well tonight, and we swept the javelin. He improved by 25 feet, I think."
The Eagles swept the javelin with Mitch Wilcox first, Nathan Wilcox second and Kyle Rafalski third.
