Warren avenged its only loss of the season Wednesday, needing just five innings to dispose of visiting Girard, 11-1.
In a 7-3 loss to Girard on Friday, April 13, the Dragons left over 10 runners in scoring position through the first six innings. Hits with runners in scoring position - as well as a fantastic pitching performance from Eddie Dorunda - made for a different outcome this time around.
"We just hit the ball in timely spots today," said Warren coach Jeff Passaro. "We got the big hits with runners in scoring position. Eddie was great on the mound today. Every time he's out there, he gives us a fantastic effort."

After a scoreless inning and a half to start the game, the Dragons (9-1, 5-1 region) broke through in the second inning. Kevin VanOrd started things with a single and advanced all the way to third after Matt Jaskolka was hit by a pitch and Collin Fantaskey reached on an error. Chris Danielson started the scoring with a two-run single to score VanOrd and Jaskolka and Fantaskey scored on the first of Kory Thomas' four RBI on the afternoon.
Already up 3-0, the Dragons doubled the lead in the third. Dorunda walked and Jason Stanton took over for him on the bases. Jaskolka's deep double scored Stanton and Preston McMeans reached on an error to put two men aboard. Singles by Fantaskey and Thomas would both bring home runs and the Dragons led 6-0.
After the Yellowjackets scored a run in the top of the fourth, Warren put the game to bed in the bottom of the fifth. Jaskolka and McMeans singled to start the five-run inning and Fantaskey brought home a run with a fielder's choice. Danielson soon added his second RBI single of the game, Thomas drove home runs three and four with a double and, after back-to-back walks by Andrew Bevevino and Hank Morrison, VanOrd ended the game with an RBI single that made it 11-1.
Thomas, VanOrd, Jaskolka and Danielson all finished with two hits and Thomas had a team-high four RBI. Dorunda earned the victory, allowing just one run on four hits in five innings. He struck out six and walked just two.
Warren returns to the diamond Thursday, visiting McDowell.
Matt Hultquist had his third home run of the season, and Jason Stanton and Brad Walters had two hits each, in Warren's 12-1 junior varsity win.
Darin Francisco and John White combined on a two-hitter. Tanner Stanz and Carter Cerra had the only other hits for Warren, which ten-runned Girard in five innings to move to 9-1 overall.

North East 10, Eisenhower 6
The Eisenhower baseball team fell to North East on Wednesday by a score of 10-6.
The Knights fall to 4-7 while North East improves to 6-6.
The Knights came out strong in the first, drawing three consecutive walks before Shane Arford drove in the first run of the game on a sacrifice fly.
Eisenhower would add two more runs in the inning on errors.
Ike pushed two more runs across in the fourth, with one coming on a fielder's choice groundout and the other on a Eric Hastings RBI single. The Knights scored their final run in the sixth on a Aaron Jackson single.
Despite tallying only four hits, Eisenhower had plenty of runners reach base, thanks in part to 11 drawn walks.
Jeb Fedorchuk, normally an outfielder, started the game for the Knights and went five innings, giving up just four hits. Kyle Hunt pitched the final two innings in relief.
"We were short four varsity players, so we had some guys who don't normally varsity play filling in," said Ike coach Jon Vincent. "They did a really nice job and I couldn't ask any more of them. It's just kind of hard to win when you're missing key players. We made some baserunning mistakes and we've got to move on and improve from it."
Eisenhower will next play on Monday at Iroquois.

Northwestern 13, Youngsville 2
Youngsville dropped to 2-8 with the non-region loss on Wednesday at Davis Street Field in Youngsville. Northwestern improves to 9-2.
The Eagles fell into a big hole early, giving up five runs in the first and two more in the second.
Cory Craig had a strong game for the Eagles, pitching two hitless innings in relief while striking out three, and also adding two hits, including a double.
Jake Marino also had a nice game, going 2-for-3 and scoring both Eagles' runs.
"They just jumped on us in the first inning," said Youngsville coach Tom Craig. "They're a good ballclub and we just didn't pitch well enough to win."
Youngsville will be back in action next Monday when they travel to Titusville.
