Support has been pouring in to help a Pittsfield family which suffered a house fire on April 16.
Robbin Weaver, the patriarch of the family, said they have been overwhelmed with the amount of generosity they've seen from as far away as California. Family, friends, businesses and the MS Society have all helped out.
Danette Weaver, matriarch, said the fire chief, fire marshal and fire inspector could not find a cause for the fire. However, she said it resulted in a complete loss to the home.
"We're all just shocked," Danette Weaver said. "We're trying to find a house to rent until we rebuild."
Different departments at Blair have been extremely helpful, Danette Weaver said, as has the community. Donations can be made to the Weaver account at N.F.G. #2 Federal Credit Union, 1303 Pennsylvania Ave.
Future needs for the family will be housing goods, furniture and appliances. Immediate needs are food items and clothing in the following sizes:
for Nicholas, age 8, boys size 8 shirts and pants, shoe size 2
for Nathaniel, age 12, men's small shirt, pants 32 M, shoe size 9 1/2
for Robbin, pants 32 L, shirt size L
for Danette, pants size 8, shirt size M
Items can be dropped off at the Blair Distribution Center in Irvine at the North Building/Maintenance Building between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. Questions can be directed to Danette Weaver at 706-2219.
"I feel blessed to live in the community I live in and work where I work," Robbin Weaver said. "The compassion people are showing us is simply amazing."
When tragedies like fire happen, Robbin Weaver said it can leave a big hole in life. If only one person goes up against it, he said it can be hard to see a way forward.
