Big 30 news

A pair of Warren County football players have been added to the Pennsylvania roster of the annual Big 30 Don Raabe Charities Classic football game scheduled for Saturday, August 4, at Bradford's Parkway Field.

Warren Area High School senior lineman Bobby Atkins will play for the Keystone State team. Atkins was a three-year captain for the Dragons football team and named a Region 6 all-star on the offensive line during his senior season.

Sheffield High School senior lineman Jeb Greto will also participate in the game. Greto was named to the Allegheny Mountain League all-star team at the conclusion of the 2011 season.

College news

Warren Area High School graduate and Bloomsburg University senior men's tennis player Jeff Nuhfer won his doubles match, helping the Huskies to a victory over Shepard in the NCAA Division II Regionals. Bloomsburg will play Shaw in the regional finals on Monday with the winner advancing to Nationals in Louisville, Ky.

Horseshoes

The Warren County Horseshoes League will be holding work bees at the Warren County Fairgrounds this Monday as well as Monday, May 7, to prepare the courts for the coming season. These work bees will begin at 6 p.m.

Jr. high track

Eisenhower's Emily McJunkin placed first in the girls high jump with a jump of four feet nine inches Saturday at the Johnsonburg Junior High Track & Field Invitational. Youngsville's Hannah Morris added a first-place showing in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:47.88.
