CORRY - Two-out lightning.
That's been the Lady Dragons' M.O. in several games this season, and Warren improved to 9-0 overall and 7-0 in Region 6 on Wednesday with an 8-3 win at Corry.
"It's the most errors we've had in a game (this season), so we obviously weren't clean," said Warren coach Mark Bupp, "but I was happy with the way the kids stuck to it and hit the ball."
Tied 3-3 in the fourth inning, Kennedy Walter singled with two outs to set up Kaitlin Ishman's fifth home run of the season and a 5-3 Warren lead. Two innings later, Taylor Mineweaser dropped down a perfect two-out bunt single, which started another rally. Running on the next pitch, Mineweaser scored on Valerie Latimer's RBI double to make it 6-3 Warren. It was Latimer's fourth pinch hit of the season, and she's 4-for-5 overall. Latimer eventually scored on an Ishman RBI single.
In the seventh, Rachel Hasselman popped her third homer of the season for an 8-3 decision.
"(Mineweaser) really got that sixth inning going, and Val stepped in again for another great job coming off the bench for another clutch hit," said coach Bupp. "It's been nice, there's been different kids stepping up at different times."
Ishman has been red hot of late - with three home runs last week and another on Wednesday.
Bupp said Hasselman is flying under the radar a little bit, and providing "valuable senior leadership.
"She came in with a batting average over .500 and hit her third home run on the season," said coach Bupp.
Warren took a 2-0 lead in the first when Jaimie Eaton had a one-out base hit and scored on Alexa Bupp's RBI triple. Bupp then scored on a Kristen Hultquist base hit.
Up 2-1, Hultquist had an RBI fielder's choice in the third for Warren.
Corry tied the score 3-3 in the bottom of the third with two of the three runs unearned. Warren committed four errors on the day, but made a couple nice putouts. In the second inning, Walter threw out a Corry runner at the plate. In the third, Hultquist threw a batter out at first base from right field on a potential base hit.
Alexa Bupp struck out seven, without a walk, in the complete game win.
Latimer also had two hits for Warren in an 8-3 junior varsity loss.

Youngsville 6, Seneca 4
WATTSBURG - Colleen Rex and Amber Fox belted out three hits each and Youngsville clawed its way back to the .500 mark on the season, evening its record at 5-5 with a 6-4 victory over Seneca on Wednesday.
Rex set the table and Fox brought the run home in the first inning as the Eagles jumped out to a 1-0 advantage. Rex singled and stole second before Fox's single brought her home, giving the visitors the early lead.
Seneca would tie the game in the bottom of the first and actually take a short-lived 2-1 lead after three innings, but the Youngsville bats came back to life in the fourth.
Fox and Shelby Anderson led off the inning with singles and both scored on separate singles by Cierra Ohl and Judi Lewis. Those two runs gave the Eagles a 3-2 lead and two more runs in the fifth pushed the lead to three.
Fox drove Rex home for the second time to supply the Eagles' first run of the fifth and Fox later scored on a sacrifice fly by Anderson.
After Seneca cut the lead to 5-4 with a pair of runs in the fifth, Youngsville added an insurance run in the sixth to close out the afternoon's scoring. Lewis doubled to start the inning and scored on Rex's RBI single.
The Eagles will try to make it two wins in two days on Thursday when they visit Fairview.
