The Miracle Worker

Knight-time players will present their spring play, April 19, 20, 21 at 7 p.m. in the Eisenhower auditorium. The play, "The Miracle Worker" by William Gibson, is the story of Helen Keller. Helen, played by Kayla Kuppertz, was rendered deaf and blind due to an illness at the age of one. Helen's parents, (Carley Younger and Mitch Stenberg) are desperate to help Helen who by the age of five is totally out of control. They hire a young girl by the name of Annie Sullivan, played by Kelsie Morine, who through perseverance and love manages to break through Helen's isolation and teach her language. The play is very moving and the sets and costumes are incredible. Other members of the cast include Kyle Covert, Aiyana Sotomyor, Connor Younger, Kaity Kotar, Ty Christensen, Cody Clark, Liz Duvall, Krystal Oaks, Sharon Harrington, Chrissy Brunecz, Brittany Schreiber, Kaitlyn Blake, Lacey Rowley, Nikki Eckman, Kaitlyn Oaks.

Tickets are available at the door, and the Knight-time Players would appreciate your support. The group is raising funds for a trip to NYC, and in addition to the play, they are also sponsoring a silent auction. Cast members will have a list of items available and chances for sale. Lists and tickets will also be available in the main office at Eisenhower High School. The drawings will be Saturday at the last performance. Some of the choices, include a $25 gift card to Advanced Auto, free meals to various restaurants, a homemade Navaho Afghan, golf balls, and many, many more. We Are Bookin'

The Sugar Grove Free Library will once again hold its 5K and 1-Mile Run/Walk on April 21. All Proceeds from the event will go to benefit the Library. Race time will begin at 10 a.m. on race day and registration will be from 9 9:30 a.m. at the Library on Harmon Street. All ages are welcome to participate in the event.

The race start and finish line will be located on the corner of the Library on School Street.

At this time, the list of donors for the event are The Bucket , The Out Post , Grant Lumber , Camp Stone , Catering Plus , New Beginnings, Curtis Oil , Lander United Methodist Church , Swanson's Carpentry, Lindell Farms , and Donald Martin.

Mobile Food Pantry

The Second Harvest Food Pantry will be holding their Mobile Food Pantry at the Sugar Grove Free Methodist Church on Saturday at 8 a.m.

Spaghetti Dinner

The Hessel Valley Lutheran Church in Chandlers Valley will be holding a Benefit Spaghetti Dinner next Thursday, April 26, from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The cost for the dinner is only a donation.

All proceeds from the dinner will be given to help bring "Camp Noah" to small communities in Pennsylvania who were hard hit by flooding in last fall's storms caused by Hurricane Irene and Tropical Storm Lee. Camp Noah, is a fun-filled, faith-based, week-long day camp for children from first through sixth grade who have experienced disaster or trauma. Camp Noah offers the structure, connectedness and play children need to build resiliency and hope. Since 1997, Camp Noah has been helping children affected by disasters. Camp Noah has been hosted in more than 22 states and has been recognized nationally for its achievements/

The dinner will consist of salad with homemade dressing, our special secret recipe sauce over spaghetti pasta with meatballs, homemade bread and homemade desserts.

Fine Forgiveness

The Sugar Grove Free Library will once again be offering fine forgiveness week to celebrate National Library Week. Just bring back your overdue materials to the Sugar Grove Library and be forgiven of the fines. Sorry this does not work with credit card debt, mortgages, etc. but it is great to have our library fine forgiven. New this year, we are going to celebrate longer than just one week. Fine forgiveness will run from April 8th April 30th. We are accepting any overdue materials that you may have, even if you have had them for years. So get out that history book you checked out for your book report back in high school and return it to the library this month. All is forgiven.

College Scholarship

The American Legion of Sugar Grove Post #758 is offering three scholarships to Eisenhower High School Seniors. Information is available at the Eisenhower Guidance Office on this and other local scholarships available to our seniors.

Clean Up Day

Sugar Grove Borough Clean up Day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 12, from 9 a.m. 1 p.m. Mark your calendars and more information will become available as the day gets closer.

Special Service

"Aspire" from the Lander United Methodist Church will be at the Chandlers Valley United Methodist Church on April 29 at 10 a.m. during the regular worship service. S.G. Elem. Auction

The Sugar Grove Elementary School will be holding their Annual Choice Auction on Thursday evening, April 26. They will also be holding their Annual Ice Cream Social on this same evening. Right now there are over 80 choice auction items to choose from. Stop by the school office for a listing of prizes and to purchase tickets. Tickets are 3 for $1. Then stop by on Thursday evening and enjoy an ice cream sundae and hear who wins all the items as the winners are announced.
