‘House At Pooh Corner’ presented

April 19, 2012
The Times Observer

The Struthers Library Theatre will present Theatre IV's, "House At Pooh Corner" on Wednesday, April 25, at 7 p.m.

Set in the magical Hundred Acre Wood in England, Christopher Robin's adventures with Pooh, Piglet, Eeyore, Kanga, Roo, Owl, and Tigger delights families even today. From discovering what to feed Tigger (no haycorns, no honey, no thistles) to playing Poohsticks over the bridge, the friends are bound only by their childhood imaginations. In the end, Christopher Robin tells Pooh, "Pooh, promise me you won't forget about me, ever. Not even when I'm a hundred." "How old shall I be then?" asks Pooh. "Ninety-nine," replies Christopher Robin. Pooh replies with, "I promise." Indeed, a child and his bear will always be playing.

Theatre IV a nonprofit, professional theater for young audiences. Since 1975 we have toured from Wisconsin to Florida and Texas to Maine while also presenting lavish productions in our home city of Richmond, Va. 2011 - 2012 we will perform live before more than a half million children, teens, parents and teachers across the America.

"The House At Pooh Corner" is being presented as a part of the theater's Arts and Education program. More than 700 second and third graders will attend the 9 a.m. morning show at the theater. The theater's art and education program collaborates with the Warren County School District to ensure that children in our district all receive opportunities to view live theatrical productions. The plays are entertaining while introducing the audience to the books, people, and events being studied in schools. This is a natural extension of their educational experience.

The arts and education program is sponsored by the DeFrees Family Foundation, Arts Erie, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

Tickets for the public performance are $5.00 for students and $10.00 for adults. Children under the age of 5 are free. Tickets are available at the theater office, 723-7231 or at the door.
