Warren’s Jordan Willetts, at left, and Nathan Zigler, right, hit the hurdles at the same time in a meet against Corry on Tuesday at War Memorial Field. Zigler won the 110-meter high hurdles and Willetts was a strong second.
The Warren boys also maintained the momentum built with their victory in the Harbor Creek Invitational last weekend, completing the sweep with an 84-57 victory over the visiting Beavers.
"Our girls really came through," said Warren girls coach Mark Sweet. "Tori Paris did a great job winning the high jump for us, Ellis Beardsley was a four-time winner, Brooke Armanini was a three-time winner and Lindsay Onuffer continues to drop her times in both the 100 and 300 hurdles. I'm very happy with today's results."
Beardsley recorded two individual wins and added two relay victories for good measure. She won the 800 in 2:32.63 and the 1600 in 5:41.14. Later, Beardsley teamed with Anna Falvo, Paige Rimer and Casey Kulka to win the 4X400 relay and Rimer, Megan Smoulder and Falvo to win the 4X800 relay.
Warren's 4X100 relay team completed a sweep of the relay events with Kaitlyn Levesque, Amy Castagnino, Brooke Armanini and Kulka getting the win.
Onuffer swept the hurdles events for the Lady Dragons, clocking in at 18.18 seconds in the 100 event and 51.69 in the 300 event. Armanini claimed victory in the long jump and triple jump, Levesque won the 100, Kulka the 200 and Paris the high jump with a leap of four feet, eight inches.
For the Warren boys, Nathan Zigler was a four-time winner, claiming victory in every event in which he was entered. Zigler swept the 110 and 300 hurdles in 16.62 and 42.64 respectively, won the long jump with a leap of 19 feet, four and one-half inches and won the high jump by clearing five feet, 10 inches.
Three-time winners for the Dragons were Jordan Willetts and Tanner Rosenberg. Willetts was an individual winner in the 100 and 400 and teamed with Rosenberg, Luke Wortman and Caleb Hultman to win the 4X400 relay. Rosenberg won the 800 with a run of 2:05.60 and teamed with Christian Harrington, Brad Simmons and Hultman to win the 3200 relay.
Rounding out Warren's winners were Simmons in the 1600, Austin Jerman in the javelin and Mark Davis in the triple jump.
"(Brad) Simmons' 4:34 is his personal best (in the mile), and Zigler had an excellent day," said Warren boys coach Steve Norris. "I just think the team is jelling so well together and we got some points in the field events today. We have a lot of work to do in that area, little technical things keeping them from taking that next step.
"The kids are so into what they're doing and they work so hard," said Norris.
Both Warren teams - now 3-0 overall - return to the track Tuesday, hosting Meadville.
