WATTSBURG - Missing two starters from their typical lineup, the Youngsville Eagles overcame the odds and got some key hitting in key spots for a 7-4 victory over Seneca Monday in Wattsburg.
"It was a good ball game and we had some kids really step up," said Youngsville coach Tom Craig. "Brodie Turner started in left and came up with three hits for us. The wind was terrible today and our defense still made four errors. But we made enough plays to get out of jams. Overall, it was a good ball game. I'm happy to get the first win."
With the victory, Youngsville is 1-4 on the season and will host Mercyhurst Prep in region competition Wednesday at Davis Street Field.
Jake Marino, who was robbed of a potential game winning hit last week against Titusville because the ball rolled under the fence for a ground rule double, had another big day. He finished 4-for-4 with three runs scored. Leftfielder Brodie Turner - seeing his first action of the season finished 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Turner and second baseman James Frazier were inserted into the lineup for missing starters Broc Horn and Aaron Hoover and combined to finish 4-for-6 with a pair of runs driven in.
Josh Lewis earned the win, allowing just three earned runs on seven hits in seven innings of work. He struck out seven and walked just three.

Warren 15, Harbor Creek 1
HARBORCREEK - After suffering an upset loss to Girard late last week, Warren was taking no chances during Monday's region game with Harbor Creek at Harbor Creek High School.
Hank Morrison hit two runs, including one grand slam, and drove in six runs and Collin Fantaskey added a grand slam of his own as the Dragons dominated the Huskies, 15-1, to improve to 4-1 on the season and avoid their first losing streak in nearly two years.
"The bats really came to life today and we got some hits in some timely places," said Warren coach Jeff Passaro. "That was really nice to see after what happened against Girard."
Morrison's big day started early as the senior slugger sent his first ball over the fence to put the Dragons up 2-0 in the first. The Huskies scored once in their half of the inning, but Morrison came up for the second time in the second inning.
He inflicted even more damage this time, sending a pitch over the fence with the bases loaded for RBI three through six and an 6-1 lead. Dan Maeder's RBI single in the third made it 7-1 and that score held until the top of the sixth inning.
There, the Dragons added their final eight runs - all after two were out in the inning.
Kory Thomas and Andrew Bevevino smacked back-to-back doubles to start the scoring. Morrison was then intentionally walked and Eddie Dorunda hit by a pitch to load the bases. Matt Jaskolka brought home a pair with a single and courtesy runner Andrew Stanton scored when a pickoff attempt by the Huskies went wide of the mark.
McMeans and Danielson would then walk in consecutive at-bats, bringing Fantaskey to the plate with the bases juiced. The sophomore calmly deposited a pitch over the wall to complete the game's scoring at 15-1.
Dorunda got the win, pitching all seven innings and allowing just one run on three hits while striking out eight. Bevevino, Morrison, Jaskolka and Fantaskey all had two hits. Morrison drove in six runs and Fantaskey added four.
Warren (4-1) is back in action Friday, hosting Fort LeBoeuf.

Titusville 9, Eisenhower 0
TITUSVILLE - One bad inning.
Eisenhower allowed five hits, committed five errors and issued two walks in a nightmare of a first inning during Monday's game with Titusville at Titusville Area High School.
By the time the damage was done, the Rockets had scored nine runs and that was all they would need in a 9-0 victory. With the loss, the Knights fall to 3-4 on the season and will travel to Erie for a region game with Mercyhurst Prep on Friday.
"You take away that one inning and we may still be playing," said Eisenhower coach Jon Vincent. "I brought Kyle Hunt into pitch after that first inning and he did a real nice job only allowing three hits the rest of the way."
Eisenhower wasn't able to push any runs across offensively, but did manage four hits in the game. Aaron Jackson and Trevor Spicer each doubled and Aaron Lundmark and Shane Arford singled.
The Knights were a 7-6 victor in the junior varsity game. Travis Johnson had two hits and Lundmark scored the winning run on a passed ball in the victory.
