Sheffield pitcher Maddie Fiscus, left, winds back to fire a pitch toward an East Forest batter during Monday’s softball game at Sheffield Area High School. The Wolverines used Fiscus’ no-hitter to win for the second time in four games this season.
Wolverines coach Tracey Vile was extremely pleased with her team's effort on Monday. She was particularly happy with the play of the defense and said that third baseman Rachel Maines was responsible for several nice plays at the hot corner.
East Forest did a lot to help Sheffield early in the contest. The Wolverines worked three bases loaded walks in the first inning while building a 9-0 advantage. For the game, the Wolverines scored their 15 runs on just eight hits and only four of the runs were brought in by Sheffield batters.
Fiscus also had a nice effort at the dish ending 2-for-3 with an RBI. Justine Barr also recorded two hits and Anna Baldensperger, Hannah Vile, Zhara Pratz and Brooke Hoffman all finished with one hit. Vile drove in a team-best two runs and Barr, Baldensperger and Vile all crossed home three times.
