On activities

April 17, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

In reference to a previous letter writer, have you not heard of the Allegheny Community Center located at 42 Clark St.? It is for seniors. There is a lot to do there. Play pool, play cards, have a good lunch. Also, different speakers come in to share. You can also get your taxes done for free. Bible study is every Tuesday morning.

Yoga class, one stroke painting, Tai Chi, AARP safe driving class, history chat, an attorney speaking about the power of attorney and probate of wills. A tops group, Pinochle, bridge and poker. Classes on dehydration, homemade cleaning supplies, reading food labels.

Having problems with your computer? Come to the center and get help. The best kept secret is our lunches - for three dollars you get a wonderful lunch. On Thursday if you don't like what they are serving, you can get bistro. In the April newsletter there is an article about proposals that will affect seniors from the Corbett Administration. Don't forget bingo every Monday after lunch and also Friday night.

Those are just a few things you will find at the Allegheny Community Center for seniors. There will be an open house April 24 from 1-5, free food and door prizes. Go and vote and visit the center. See what it is all about. I have been a member for a good many years and I love it.

Janet Haslett,

Warren
