Warren Area High School softball pitcher Alexa Bupp displayed a strong arm last week in two shutout wins for the now 5-0 Dragons. Oh, and her bat wasn't too bad, either. Bupp threw shutouts over Cambridge Springs and Franklin, and has allowed just one run in five games pitching so far this season. In an 8-0 win over Cambridge Springs, she struck out 13, while allowing just three hits and walking one. With the game tied 0-0 in the fifth inning, Bupp hit the first of her two two-run home runs, finishing 3-for-4 with a double, two home runs and four RBI. Two days later, Bupp struck out 10 in a 6-0 three-hit win over Franklin, and her two-run single extended the lead to 3-0 for the undefeated Dragons. Coming up clutch two straight games, Bupp, a sophomore, is the Times Observer Athlete of the Week, sponsored by McDonald's.
