FRANKLIN - There was little question the Knights would come out on top in Thursday's make-up track & field meet between Franklin and Eisenhower at Franklin Area High School.
The only question was which one.
Franklin's Knights were just a little bit better than Eisenhower's Knights, earning a sweep of the region meet. Franklin was a 100-50 winner in boys competition and won the girls matchup, 114-32.
Despite the lopsided final score, the Ike girls had a pair of first-place finishes as well as several runner-up spots. Bizz Baran was strong again in the 800, winning in 2:46.96 and Julia Bauer won the mile with a time of 6:15.13.
Baran was second in the 400 as were Mollie Marsh in the 300 hurdles, Taylor Talasky in the 200, Grace Thompson in the 3200 and Jessica Haskins in the shot put.
The Ike boys finished with a total of four individual winners as well as one relay squad. Winning individual events for the Knights were Richard Knisley in the 110 hurdles (19.92), Anthony Amroski in the 1600 (5:00.82), Matt Eernisse in the 400 (55.83) and Kollin King in the shot put (39'4).
The 4X400 relay team of Andrew Onoratti, Nathan O'Brien, Eernisse and Knisley was victorious in a time of 3:52.96.
Eisenhower will return to the track Tuesday when it visits county rival Youngsville.

TITUSVILLE - Like many teams, the Youngsville girls track & field club doesn't compete in the pole vault.
The Lady Eagles gave up five points in the event Thursday at Titusville and it cost them in a big way during a 74.33-71.66 loss to the Lady Rockets. Titusville completed the sweep with a 112-27 victory in the boys competition.
Despite the loss, Youngsville girls coach John Victor was very proud of his team.
"We beat them soundly on the track. It was just the pole vault that really cost us," he said. "I'm proud of the girls. We came in here against a team that we weren't really supposed to beat and almost pulled off the huge upset."
Victor said that Cassi Swartzbaugh qualified for districts in the triple jump and Abbie McLaughlin became a district qualifier in the 200.
Swartzbaugh had the biggest night for the Eagles, finishing with the maximum of four first-place finishers. She swept the hurdles events, winning the 100 and 300 versions of the event and also claimed victory in the long jump and triple jump.
McLaughlin was a winner in the 100 and 200, Lexi Robinault won the 400, Abbie Swartzbaugh shared the victory in the high jump and Katelyn Hall won the javelin. The 1600 relay team was also victorious.
On the boys side of things, the Eagles finished the afternoon with a total of three winners.
Rocco Gatta was a two-time winner with victories in the 100 and 400, Mike Hamrick earned a win in the triple jump and freshman Mitch Wilcox was a winner in the javelin with a throw of 151 feet, 11 inches.
"It was kind of a tough day for us, numbers-wise," said Youngsville boys coach Jeff Manelick. "We just didn't have the depth Titusville did. Once again, the sprints were a strong point. Rocco (Gatta) looked good; he won the 100 along with the 400. I was also pleased with Bryce Glotz; he had a good 200 for us, finishing third.
"The field events we didn't do too badly. Hamrick won the triple jump and is staying pretty consistent. In shot, Gatta was second there. Austin Mechling continued to throw the discus pretty well for us.
"One of the biggest performances of the night was freshman Wilcox; he improved his own distance, qualifying for districts."
The Eagles return to action Saturday, competing at the Brookville Invitational.
