Warren improved to 3-0 overall with an 11-1 five-inning win over Strong Vincent on Thursday at Old Legion Field in North Warren.

The Dragons scored in every inning, including two unearned runs in the first and three unearned runs in the second.

Hank Morrison finished 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and two RBI, and the top four hitters in the order had at least two hits with Kory Thomas, Andrew Bevevino, and Matt Jaskolka adding two hits each.

Warren finished with 13 hits, including six extra-base hits.

"Overall, we hit the ball okay," said Warren coach Jeff Passaro, whose Dragons are 3-0 on the season-opening non-region schedule. Region 8 games begin on Friday at Girard. "He had us fooled a couple times; we struck out more than we normally do (seven times in five innings)."

Matt Jaskolka allowed one hit over four shutout innings, striking out four without a walk for the win.

Jason Stanton had two doubles and a triple and two RBI, and Tanner Teconchuk was 2-for-3, for Warren's junior varsity team in a 15-0 four-inning win. Matt Hultquist started and got the win in the one-hitter.

Northwestern 5, Youngsville 3

ALBION - Youngsville played what coach Tom Craig called "our best game of the year" during a 5-3 loss to Northwestern Thursday in Albion.

The Eagles limited their defensive mistakes, hit the ball hard and got a nice pitching performance from Josh Lewis, but the effort ultimately came up two runs short thanks in part to a pair of home runs by Wildcats batters.

The two home runs gave Northwestern a 4-0 into the top of the fourth when Youngsville finally got on the board. The Eagles got a man aboard with a walk and an RBI double by Broc Horn made it 4-1.

The Eagles turned the three-run deficit into a one-run hole in the sixth inning thanks the timely hitting of leftfielder Caleb Linkerhof. After a Josh Lewis double and a pair of Northwestern errors, Linkerhof brought home two batters with a single to make it 4-3 after five and a half-innings.

The Wildcats added a run in their half of the sixth inning and the Eagles were unable to muster a rally in their final at-bat.

"We played the best game we've played all season," said Craig. "We have another game tomorrow and hopefully we can put some momentum together and find a way to get our first win."

Lewis and Linkerhof both had two hits and Aaron Hoover, Jake Marino, Cory Craig, Horn and Sawyer Dininny added one hit each.

The 0-3 Eagles return to action Friday, hosting Titusville.
