The Times Observer

GIRARD - The Warren boys tennis team is a perfect seven for seven this season after a 5-0 shutout over Girard on Monday.

Top Dragons singles player Shane Burns improved to 7-0 on the season with an efficient 6-1, 6-1 victory over Dan Marx. Second singles player Thomas Pellegrino was even more dominant, not allowing a game in a 6-0, 6-0 win over Kazuki Odorhs.

The singles sweep was completed by Matt Sandberg who picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win over Randy Redfield.

"Our singles players performed well today," said Warren coach Jeff Bartsch. "Marx was a worthy adversary as he gave Shane a good match today."

The Dragons' top doubles duo of Grayson Foley and Nathan Sandberg earned a 6-0, 6-1 win over Jamie Bive and Austin Agnello to open doubles play and the team of Liam Boger and Nick Tarpenning completed the shutout with a 6-1, 6-2 victory at second doubles.

The teams of Ylli Bakalli and Quinn Boger and Tyler Madigan and Quinn Boger were victorious in exhibition matches.

"Our doubles need to tighten up a bit and score more easy points with our serving," said Warren assistant coach Norm Dziendziel. "We will work on that on Tuesday afternoon."

"This was a region match and it was important to play and win," said Bartsch.

Warren (7-0, 3-0 region) returns to action Wednesday, visiting the General McLane Lancers.
