I would like to thank Achievement House Cyber Charter School for making its recent presentation to parents in Warren County. It was an informative session that showed parents that we are empowered when it comes to making choices regarding our children's education.
A very impressive and positive meeting telling us that the direct focus and emphasis is on the best interest of the student, and input from the parents was very welcome. It was a thought provoking and addressed many of the concerns that parents in the WCSD presently have with the crumbling curriculum. Achievement House Cyber Charter School offers 19 AP courses and 38 Honors courses, something that this District has not yet and will not ever be able to offer.
This Cyber Charter School also offers Microsoft IT Academy, Project Lead the Way, Career Studies beginning in 9th grade, and Special Education Services. Also beginning in the fall of 2012 their school will encompass K-6 as well. With no out of pocket expense to parents, and sport participation within the district available this makes cyber charter an appealing option.
Achievement House Cyber Charter School is an option that my family is seriously considering as well as many of the other parents who were in attendance that evening. I am not simply interested in the physical structure my children receive their education in. I am interested in the big picture. My goal is to address all facets of my children, maintain a balance, and raise well rounded kids.
I appreciate that Achievement House offers course content contributes to this along with preparing my children for adulthood and their eventual careers. If achieving this means sitting at the kitchen table with a laptop then that is what I am willing to do for my children to ensure a quality education. With WCSD contemplating turning down the Charter School application and major changes coming to some elementary schools, Cyber Charter School is a choice available to all of us. In these troubling times within the WCSD, it may just be the right choice for many families like mine.
