PMEA Chorus Fest

Eisenhower Middle School students have been selected to represent their school at the PMEA Pennsylvania Music Educators Association Chorus Fest on Friday, March 30. The students selected this year are sixth graders Laura Courson, Stephanie Hice, Alexis Roberts, Mariette Williams, Mitchell Angove, and Naomi Haight.

The Warren County School District YEMS music teacher, Patty Bush, is hosting the event and EMHS choir director Denise Pearson will be guest conductor. The Chorus Fest will be composed of the 160 voices.

A public concert begins at 7 p.m. tonight in the Youngsville High School auditorium.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Sugar Grove American Legion Post 758 is hosting its Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7 at 10 a.m. at the post home.

Children ages 12 and under are invited to attend this fun event.

We Are Bookin

The Sugar Grove Free Library will once again hold its 5K and 1 Mile Run/Walk on April 21. All proceeds from the event will go to benefit the library. Race time will begin at 10 a.m. and registration will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. at the Library on Harmon Street. All ages are welcome to participate in the event.

The race start and finish line will be located on the corner of the library on School Street.

For the race route, you can contact the library or stop in. The cost to participate in the 5K is $15 if you register on or before April 7. After April 7 the cost to register will be $20. The cost to participate in the 1 mile fun walk is $10 if you register on or before April 7. After April 7 the cost to register will be $15. T-shirts are guaranteed to all entries received by April 7. Awards will be given out this year to several age groups for the 5K run/walk.

At this time, the list of donors for the event are The Bucket , The Out Post , Grant Lumber , Camp Stone , Catering Plus, New Beginnings, Curtis Oil , Lander United Methodist Church, Swanson's Carpentry, Lindell Farms, and Donald Martin.

New this year: there will also be a pet parade held to also benefit the SG Library. The pet parade will take place in front of the Sugar Grove Fire Department. You can contact the library for information on how to register your pet for the parade.

Taxes

The Sugar Grove Free Library will be hosting tax assistance again this year. VITA personnel affiliated with RSVP will be available to assist with the preparation for 2011 tax forms. The following information will needed when attending: Social Security card, W-2 statements, Social Security statements, interest and/or dividend statements, stock and/or bond statements, pension statements, unemployment statements, any other income statements, last year's taxes (federal, state, local, and/or rebate), property taxes paid statement.

Preparation help will be available on April 2 and 9.

Getting Volunteers

Connected

Tuesday, May 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sugar Grove Fire Hall on Wilson Street, Sugar Grove Borough Council along with the Sugar Grove Township have designed an evening to get the community connected to all the resources available for those living in our community. At this time the following local government agencies have been invited to be on hand to answer your questions: The Sugar Grove Borough, Sugar Grove Township, Sugar Grove Area Sewage Authority, Warren County Planning and Zoning, Allied Building Inspections, Building Inspection Underwriters, PennDOT, Voter Registration, Warren County School District, Office of State Rep. Kath Rapp, Office of State Sen. Mary Jo White, Warren County Sheriff's Department.

Volunteer organizations will also be on hand to assist with questions. Those groups scheduled to be on hand are: The Sugar Grove Volunteer Fire Department, Community Development Council, Second Harvest Food Bank, Love Inc, Imaginative Preschool, The OutPost, The SGFM Summer Day Camp, The SGFM After School program, Girl Scouts Troop 30549, Boy Scout Troop 17, The American Legion, AMVETS, American Red Cross, The CSOI charter school group, Warren County Senior Center, Warren County Historical Society, Penn State Master Gardeners, Area Agency on Aging & Link, Hill & Dale Garden Club, Chandlers Valley Community Center, Five area churches, the Warren County Transit Authority, The Rouse Home, Warren County EOC, Warren County Visitor's Bureau, and WCCBI.

There will be activities throughout the event for children and light refreshments will be provided. Mark your calendars to plan to come to this event and learn more about your community.

College Scholarship

American Legion of Sugar Grove Post 758 is offering three scholarships to Eisenhower High School seniors. Information is available at the Eisenhower Guidance Office on this and other local scholarships available.

Easter Sunrise Service

The annual Sugar Grove Community Easter Sunrise Service will be held on Sunday, April 8, Easter Sunday, at the Mission Covenant Church in Sugar Grove on Main Street. The early sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. with music, readings, and message provided by all the local churches. A light breakfast will be provided after the service.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend this special service.

Journey to the Cross

The Sugar Grove United Methodist Church is having "The Journey to the Cross" again this year. Everyone in the community is invited to attend on Friday, April 6 (Good Friday). There will be someone at the door to greet and assist you as needed. The experience is completed at your own pace as you will be able to take time to experience "The Journey to the Cross" as it was for Jesus 2,000 years ago. You will begin at the covered entrance to our education bldg. the journey will be open from 11 a.m. till 7 p.m.

Clean-up Day

Sugar Grove Borough Clean-up Day has been scheduled for Saturday, May 12 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Mark your calendars and more information will become available as the day gets closer.
