Rush Limbaugh

March 14, 2012
The Times Observer

Dear editor:

Right on Rush Limbaugh! None of OUR health care dollars are going to birth control devices. OUR money is not going to support these depraved individuals who, once they get their hands on these contraceptive devices, turn in to obsessed crazies wanting sex, sex, sex, sex, sex!

But why are we stopping here, Rush? We don't want to be accused of picking on any one group. That wouldn't be fair or balanced.

Why should WE fund smoking cessation programs? With these quitting options aren't we encouraging smokers to go ahead and light up now because we will help them quit later? Why should we pay for any damage done from the smoking anyhow? Don't people know the risks from going through life smelling like a chimney?

What about diabetes? By health insurance paying for diabetes medication are we not telling people, "Hey, put the feedbag on, stay in the chaise lounge." No reason to exercise. No reason to watch the waistline. Triple that scoop of ice cream. Just take another metformin and you will be fine!

Or cholesterol. As long as we keep buying "those people" lipitor they will keep eating steak, fried taters, and a double cheesecake for dinner. Make them pay for their medication out of their OWN pocket and see how fast they switch to salad and yogurt!

Of course you and I, Rush, are perfect physical specimens, so we have difficulty relating to this social engineeering by the health care system. Then again, there is the drug abuse thing.

I am sure, Rush, when you were hooked on painkillers, you never took any health insurance dollars to help you clean up. It would be wrong for you to accept health care dollars when the only problem is you couldn't "just say no." Besides, the only reason you got hooked on them in the first place is that your health insurance kept paying for them. Darn enablers.

So there we have it. Looks like we have identified the problem, slashed the health care costs in our country by a good 90 percent, and solved the health care crisis to boot. Let's cut to commercial!
