Special Olympics
Warren County Special Olympics held its basketball skills competition on March 3 at Warren Area High School. The program began with a parade of athletes, followed by the National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance, Special Olympic Oath, the competition, and a team demonstration. Youngsville High School graduate Ben Oviatt is 3-0 on the mound for Division III Waynesburg College after a 14-3 win on Thursday over Cazenovia at Lake Myrtle, Fla.
The lefty Oviatt fired his third complete game, allowing three earned runs over seven innings, allowing seven hits and three walks and striking out three.

Warren Area High School graduate Tyler Leichtenberger is the closer on the Rochester Institute of Technology's college baseball team, and earned his first save on Friday in a 5-4 win over Wentworth at Avon Park, Fla. Leichtenberger threw two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and walk and struck out one. In three games, the right-handed side-arming pitcher has allowed one run in 3 2/3 innings, striking out two.
Radio control
Jamestown, N.Y.'s Jeff Patch set a new track record in the 13.5 Oval Super Stock class during radio control racing Wednesday at Riverside Raceway. Patch completed 100 laps in 5:02.91. The lap total is the highest number of laps ever recorded in a five-minute period during the 24-year history of Riverside Raceway.
