Sheffield High School sophomore Ricky Prosen is ready for the District 9 Class AA Wrestling Tournament Friday and Saturday at Clarion University.
The sophomore came up one win away from advancing to regionals last year after a stellar freshman campaign, and is picking up where he left off. He's 19-6, and has a bye to open in the 113-pound bracket.
He, and 11 other Wolverines, will attempt to finish in the top four of their respective weight classes to advance to the Northwest Region Class AA Tournamnet next weekend in Sharon.

It'll be a tough road as sixth-seeded Prosen has Sheffield's best seeding.
Last year, Prosen lost a 5-3 decision in the consolation semifinals of the 103-pound weight class to end his season. The good news is that Prosen finished 21-7 as a freshman and has a career 40-13 record entering his second go-round.
Last year, Sheffield had 11 wrestlers compete, more than they had had in years. This season, there are 12 Wolverines at districts, and that includes sophomore Brandon Johnston (14-8) at 120 pounds and junior Adam Barr at 126. Johnston and Barr advanced to the consolation quarterfinals last season - two wins away from a trip to regions.
Here are the first-round pairings for the District 9 Class AA Wrestling Championships to be held Friday and Saturday at Clarion University's Waldo S. Tippin Gymnasium. Wrestlers are listed by seed, name, school, grade and record. The top four finishers in each weight class advance to the Northwest Regional Tournament March 2-3 at Sharon High School.
