YHS National Honor Society Induction
On Tuesday, Jan. 17, Youngsville High School inducted six new members into the National Honor Society. The events of the night included dinner, which provided a time for all attendees to socialize and enjoy some good food before the induction ceremony. Following the dinner, the ceremony commenced in the auditorium, beginning with a welcoming address YHS Principal, Dr. Darrell Jaskolka. Jaylyn Orwig, President of the Youngsville NHS, introduced the guest speaker, Mrs. Stephanie C.W. Scutella, formerly Miss Williams. Scutella enlighten the audience about Generation Y and the four pillars of the National Honor Society (scholarship, service, leadership, and character). Scutella stressed that the pillars should be part of each member’s life high school through adulthood. The ceremony continued with officers lighting a candle representing each of the four pillars. The induction of the new members soon followed. Katelyn Chuzie (absent), Denise Devore, Kailey Giese, Andy Lalwani, Angela Renninger, and Sam Tome were officially inducted. Each inductee signed his or her name in the official NHS book, received a National Honor Society pin advisor, Mrs. Char Eggleston, and accepted a certificate of membership Mrs. C.W. Scutella. After the NHS pledge, Jaylyn Orwig gave the closing remarks.
The Youngsville High School Class of 1964 will meet Tuesday, Feb. 28, for lunch
at12:30 p.m. at the Youngsville American Legion.
Homecoming
The YHS Alumni Homecoming Committee would like to announce the date has been set for the YHS Homecoming Game for Friday, Sept. 14. YHS alumni planning class reunions are encouraged to call 814/563-4060, 814/664-9445 or email yhsahomecoming@yahoo.com for help in organizing your class reunion. Plans include, Thursday Homecoming parade, Friday, Homecoming football game, Saturday Alumni breakfast, Saturday afternoon Cruise-In, followed by Saturday night dinner dance at the Youngsville fire hall. Various alumni have contacted committee members searching for reunion information. Detailed information will be listed as plans are finalized.
YTV
Youngsville TV has announced the ACH Debit program for its members. This is an easy way to pay your cable bill and avoid late charges or possible disconnection. Stop in to the office at 3 West Main Street in Youngsville to sign up. The ACH is taken out on the 5th of each month.
If you have a problem with the internet, call Eaglezip at 1-866-960-6104. If there is a problem, don't wait, call and it will be fixed by staff or Eaglezips staff. This is Youngsville TV's 60th year of providing television service to the Youngsville area. The annual meeting on May 20. More information will follow in the coming months.
Preschool
Youngsville First United Methodist Church Preschool is accepting applications. The Preschool is located at 225 Main & Church Streets.
Applications can be picked-up at the Preschool between 9-11 a.m. Monday-Friday or call 814/563-4201 to make an appointment. Youngsville First United Methodist Preschool is a Christian based program and prepares the children for future schooling.

Streetscape
Northwest Savings Bank recently presented the Revitalization Of Youngsville Association (ROY) with a $10,000 donation to be used towards the streetscape's required additional design on East Main Street.
At present, construction on Railroad Street has been delayed due to the U.S. Postal Service, at the Federal level, not giving Youngsville an easement. "Our borough office is presently working with our congressman to resolve the easement issues with the Post Office. We are still hoping to begin sometime this year," said ROY Past President Nancy Holmberg. "ROY has been extremely successful in raising funds to make our renovation happen. I think this contribution from Northwest shows how well they serve our community."
For Youngsville, this donation means yet another large portion of its downtown revitalization project, which has been in the works since 2004, will be completed without burdening the borough's general fund. For more information call Nancy Holmberg at 814/563-7966.
Cornfest help
The ROY Cornfest Committee is looking for someone to plant and harvest corn for our annual Corn Maze. We have a wonderful family allowing us to use their property on N. Main Street for the Maze. If you are able to help us with this work, please call, planter will be compensated for their work.
The maze provides hours of community enjoyment and is one of the best Cornfest fund raisers. The Cornfest Committee is also looking for persons interested in helping chair individual events related to the Corn Festival on Aug. 17-19. Events are the corn hole tournament, corn eating contest, amateur turkey calling contest, bingo tent, or lawn mower/something races. Joy Full Cafe
The community is invited to enjoy a Free Meal at the Youngsville Free Methodist Joy Full Cafe every Wednesday evening between 5:30 7 p.m. Chef Cline and his staff change the menu every week. After the meal, the Wednesday night Children's Program (20/20) starts at 6:00 PM and is an hour long. These classes are for children 3 years old and up to and including Grade 6. The "FUEL" Youth program for Grades 7 12 begins at 6:30 and runs until 8:30. Please join with us for some great Food, Fun and Fellowship.
R.O.Y. memberships
The Revitalization of Youngsville is accepting memberships for 2012. Individual memberships are $10, business memberships are $40 which covers their advertising in the Youngsville Business Directory. Funds raised through memberships helps fund the streetscape project. R.O.Y. is a volunteer run organization without operating cost and goal driven for the enhancement of Youngsville. Art and Vino Venue
The Revitalization of Youngsville is cranking up it's efforts to raise funds for the Youngsville streetscape project. The Promotion committee has come up with a great way to promote fun and raise funds. The first Art & Vino Venue - An Affair for Fine Art, Fine Wine, and Fine Food in Youngsville - will be held Saturday, April 21, from 1 - 6 p.m. at the Youngsville Fire Hall. Local artisans, gourmet food preparers, spring flower providers, local businesses, and wineries will be on hand. For those participating in wine tasting, they may purchase a $10 ticket, at the Youngsville Pharmacy, Allegheny Artistry, and Allegheny Cellars Winery (Must be 21 to purchase tickets). Bus Trip for
Sky Hawk Drive
A bus from the Youngsville area will travel to the "4:12 Tour" in Jamestown. Pick-up locations will be determined by the response. There will be music with Skyhawk Drive, based in Greencastle. The group burst onto the Christian music scene with their Christian pop punk and are now in overdrive opening up for Relient K and Family Force Five.
Tricia Brockis best known for her work with the Grammy-nominated band Superchick. She shares a strong message that we may be broken but we're never destroyed when we are with God. Bright Light Parade proclaims a powerful message of servant-hood and seeking the Will of God in everyday life. Also there will be free games, free laser tag and free pizza.
The event will be held at the Gateway Family Center, 31 Water Street, Jamestown, N.Y. on Sunday, March 4, from 2-8 p.m. The ticket for the event and bus ride is $20, ticket only is $15. Call 814/563-9009 to sign up or stop in at the Youngsville Free Methodist Church at 238 East Main Street.
