CONNEAUT LAKE - Youngsville kept up with Conneaut Lake nearly the whole way Wednesday, but couldn't come up with its first win during a 52-39 loss to the Indians at Conneaut Lake High School.
"We came out early and couldn't buy a bucket," said Eagles coach Ray Neidrick. "We stayed with them during the third quarter and they were only able to pull away in the fourth because we had to start fouling to extend the game."
Youngsville's defense was superb in the opening half, limiting the Indians to just 18 points. However, the Eagles only mustered 10 points of their own on offense and trailed by eight at the break.

Broc Horn and Colin Lehnen were the only Eagles to reach double figures. Horn had 15 points and Lehnen finished with 10. Coll Dininny had nine blocked shots to go with his six points.
Youngsville's junior varsity team suffered a 54-11 setback. Dacoda Buchanan led the Eagles with six points.
The Eagles (0-18) will try to end the season with a win Friday when they host Union City.

CONNEAUTVILLE - Tidioute Charter finishes 1-12 overall after a 61-33 road loss on Wednesday at Conneaut Valley.
"There was definitely growth over the season, unfortunately it (culminated) when it did," said TCCS Dave Manning, whose Bulldogs didn't win their first game until the next-to-last game of the season on Friday.
TCCS' two seniors, Kendrick Morrison and Pat Haney, combined for 14 of Tidioute's 33 points on Wednesday.
