Youngsville High School graduate and California University of Pennsylvania freshman men's track & field team member Abel Robinault competed for the Vulcans at the Valentine Invitational hosted by Boston University on Saturday. Robinault finished third in the one-mile run with a time of 4:37.08.

Tournament champions
The Beaty Dragons seventh-grade boys basketball team won the championship on Saturday at the Seventh-Grade Kane Classic basketball tournament. Sheffield Area High School graduate and Penn State-DuBois senior women's basketball player Tessa Vargas scored 23 points and added six assists, six steals and three rebounds in the her team's 99-50 victory over Penn State-York on Saturday. Last week in a 92-36 victory over Penn State-Mont Alto, Vargas scored 27 points.
Her accomplishments led to Vargas being named the Penn State University Athletic Conference player of the week for the second time this season. During the week of February 4-10 (three games), Vargas scored 66 points with 10 assists, 12 rebounds and 13 steals.
Mat rankings
One Eisenhower Knight and two Youngsville Eagles are included in Dan Albaugh's latest District 10 Class AA wrestling rankings released on Sunday. Ike junior Jake Johnson is ranked third at 195 pounds in D-10 and fifth at the weight class in the PIAA Class AA Northwest Regional rankings. Youngsville teammates Aaron Hoover (113 pounds) and Jaykup Durlin (220 pounds) are ranked sixth in D-10 in their respective weight classes.
Big 30
Warren Area High School senior Chris Danielson is one of the first six players announced as playing in the Pennsylvania vs. New York Big 30 Don Raabe Charities Classic Football game on Aug. 4 in Bradford.
Danielson (5-foot-8, 180 pounds) was a running back/defensive back this past fall for the Warren Dragons with plans to play baseball in college at Penn Tech.
Eisenhower boosters
The Eisenhower Baseball Boosters will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15, in room 309 at Eisenhower High School. Parents of players are asked to attend. Tickets and ticket money are due. For questions, call Rhonda Jackson at 489-3915.
