100th Day

Raffle dinner
The Garland Community Center, 204 Extension Road, Garland will host a Raffle Dinner on Sun., Feb. 12, from 1 p.m. with dinner served at 2 p.m. There is free admission, free dinner buffet, Chinese auction, raffles, 50/50, special kids games and prizes. This is an alcohol-free event.
ROY meeting change
The regular monthly meeting for the Revitalization of Youngsville has been changed for February. The new meeting date will be Monday, Feb. 13, at 11:30 a.m. at the Youngsville Public Library. Resolutions for the Streetscape project must be made before the Youngsville Borough meeting that evening. The public is always invited to attend.
Community supper
The monthly community out reach dinner at St. Francis Episcopal Church in Youngsville, will be Tuesday, Feb 14, from 4-6 p.m. The menu will be homemade vegetable soup or chili, grilled cheese sandwiches, and dessert. This is a free dinner open to anyone in the community. Carry outs available after 6 p.m. only. Donations are accepted.
Soup luncheon
Thursday, Feb. 16, at noon the Berea Lutheran Church, Rts. 958 and 6, will host their monthly soup luncheon. Today the soup is broccoli cheese, with sourdough bread, dessert and beverage. There is no charge at any time, but donations are gladly accepted.
YHS Homecoming
The YHS Alumni Homecoming Committee would like to announce the date has been set for the YHS 2012 Homecoming Game for Friday, Sept. 14. YHS alumni planning class reunions are encouraged to call 814/563-4060, 814/664-9445 or email yhsahomecoming@yahoo.com for help in organizing your class reunion. Plans include, Thursday Homecoming parade, Friday, Homecoming football game, Saturday Alumni breakfast, Saturday afternoon Cruise-In, followed by Saturday night dinner dance at the Youngsville fire hall. Various alumni have contacted committee members searching for reunion information. Detailed information will be listed as plans are finalized.
Library
It is the second year for the Library's "Love Your Library' Raffle Basket Extravaganza. There will be seven baskets: Gift Cards, Lottery Tickets, Kids, Baking, Guys, Dinner and Movie, Wine and Cheese. All baskets have a value of $50 plus. Raffle tickets can be purchased at the Library or from a Board or Friend member. Tickets will be sold at Richard's Restaurant on Feb. 14 and Feb. 17, from 4 to 7 p.m. both days.
WCCS kindergarten
Warren County Christian School will be having an open house for the kindergarten class for the fall of 2012. The visiting time will be on Feb. 17 from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the school. If you are interested in a character building Kindergarten program that teaches respect and not only reading but also incorporates basic skills needed to advance into a first grade class, please contact the office for registration or with your questions concerning WCCS at 814/563-4457.
YTV
Youngsville TV has added two new channels to their lineup. Channel 63 is "Antenna TV" which airs older movies and shows that were available with an antenna and Channel 67 Fox Business. Youngsville TV has announced the acceptance of the ACH Debit program. If you are having trouble remembering your TV payment, this is a sure way of not getting the late fees and possibly being disconnected. Come into the office and fill out the permission paperwork and it will automatically come out of your checking account on the 5th of every month.
Registration
Pick up packets for the 2012-2013 Kindergarten registration at the Youngsville Elementary Middle School on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. All packets need to be returned completed on registration day.
Community Cookbook
Mrs. Mack's 5th grade Language Arts class has taken on the mission of creating a Community Cookbook. What they need are your fabulous and famous recipes. Please send your legible recipes to YEMS as soon as possible. Don't forget to include your name. They hope to have these community cookbooks available for purchase in the Spring. They will also hold an Art Contest for the cover illustration. Everyone is welcome to participate. Put your artwork on a 4 1/2" wide by 7 1/2" tall piece of paper.
Please attach your name and phone number on a separate sheet of paper. They will accept recipes and artwork until Feb. 10. If you have any questions or would like to email your recipes, please send them to mackj@wcsdpa.org.
Cornfest meeting
Meetings have begun for the organization of the 7th Annual A'Maiz'ing Corn Festival. The committee asks that anyone in the Youngsville area that is planning events around the weekend of the Corn Festival, please attend the meetings. Events that work together can be advertised together, saving all organizations. The committee spends many hours in planning for the entertainment of the entire community. This event helps fund the streetscape project. The next meeting will be listed in the Youngsville Area News Briefs.
