Senior Center menu

Thursday, Feb. 9 will be Hot Turkey Sandwiches, dessert and beverages.

Monday, Feb. 13 will be Bacon cheeseburgers, potatoes, dessert and beverages.

Tuesday, Feb. 14 will be a Valentine's Day dinner, please call the center at 484-3020 for details.

Thursday, Feb. 16 will be soup, sandwiches, dessert and beverages.

Please call the center to sign up for the bus and lunch.

Tidioute Health Fair

Warren General Hospital will be adding an A1C screening to the Tidioute Health Screening this year.

An A1C (glycated hemoglobin) measures your average blood glucose level over a 2 to 3 month span. A1C can be reported as an estimated average glucose value or eAG. This test may help diagnosis diabetes and help with treatment plan adjustments. An A1c can be reported in a percentage. The guidelines are 4-5.6 percent non diabetic, 5.7 to 6.4 percent pre-diabetes and 6.5 percent diagnosis and should be done 2 to 4 times a year.

If you have a family history of diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol or carry your weight around your abdomen, you may want to have this test done. This test will cost $10.

Comprehensive blood testing will be $40 per person. Men sign up to the PSA test for an additional $17

The Health Fair will be held on Saturday, March 31 at Tidioute Firehall from 7 a.m. till 12 noon.

Those wishing to sign up for the complete blood work can call Marty Bennett at 484-7372

Several free tests will be conducted for those who want to participate in these.

Several displays will be set up by area merchants, most of which will be medical oriented. Other groups as well be on hand for you to visit.

All blood work will require you to fast for at least 12 hours. Food will be available for a monetary donation.

Picking up students

Parents picking up students from school are reminded that there is No Parking in the Main Street parking lot other than in clearly marked parking spaces.

If the allotted parking spaces are full, parents are asked to either park on Main Street or in the firehall parking lot.

Violators will be towed at the owner's expense.

This change was requested by the bus company due to several safety concerns.

Kindergarten registration

Tidioute Community Charter School Kindergarten registration for students who will be 4 or 5 years of age for the 2012-2013 school year will be held on Friday, March 2 from 12 noon to 1 p.m.

Please the school at 484-3550 for an appointment.

Spelling Bee winners

Seventh grade students Allyvia Morgan and Conor Coughlin were the winner and first runner up.

Allyvia will be competing at the Allegheny Valley for the Warren County Title this month.

Homecoming Dance

Tidioute Community Charter School Homecoming Dance will be held on Saturday, Feb. 18.

This year the theme is, "Hawaiian Luau" and will begin at 7 p.m. and end at 10 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the crowning will take place at 7 p.m.

Parent viewing is limited from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Semi formal dress is required and finger foods will be provided.

Guests who do not attend Tidioute Community Charter School must be pre-approved- the sign up sheet is in the office.

Drug awareness evening

Tidioute Community Charter School SADD group will be holding a Drug Awareness nite on Thursday, March 15 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

There will be a variety of local speakers who will be presenting real life experiences and approaches about their prior drug addition and alcoholism.

This program is free and open to the public and will be held in the school gymnasium.

A bake sale will be held during the intermission.

Community Service

Staff members at Warren Manor made up large batches of chili and delivered it to the various PennDOT tool sheds throughout Warren County on Friday, Feb. 3.

Chili was delivered to the workers in Tidioute, Tiona, Torpedo, Wrightsville, North Warren, and Starbrick.

This is a yearly project for the staff at Warren Manor, located in Pleasant Township, that they have done for the past four years.

Food Bank

Once again the Second Harvest Food Bank will be set up at the Tidioute Firehall.

This month it will be Saturday, Feb. 25 starting at 10 a.m.

Please bring your own boxes if possible to carry your food items home in.

Bingo

Pennsylvania State Championship Fishing Tournament committee members will be hosting a Sunday Bingo at Buccardo's restaurant on Sunday, Feb. 12

Doors will open at 2 p.m. and the games will begin at 3 p.m.

There is a progressive jackpot.

Tournament committee members would like to say thank you for 53 years of support.

Game foods

A big thank you to all those who participated in the Wild Game Fest on Sunday, Jan. 29.

Those who were present had an opportunity to sample perch, walleye, salmon, bear, moose and elk.

Birthday addition

Zack Sutton has a birthday on Feb. 7, his name was left off the calendar for Feb..

Blood Drive

The community and surrounding area is invited to participate in a blood drive at Tidioute Community Charter School on Wednesday, Feb. 15 from 12:30 to 5 p.m. in the school gymnasium.

Any person age 16 must have a completed registration form and proof of age.

This is open to the public.

license plates

Tidioute Community Charter School still has the Bulldog Bites Cookbook and Tidioute License Plates for sale each for only $10

Stop by the school or local merchants to make your purchases.

Legion Baseball

Tidioute youth, ages 14 to 19, have a opportunity to play Legion Baseball.

Sign up sheets are located at Buccardo's Restaurant from now until Feb. 24.

If you are interested in playing please stop at Buccardo's and sign up. All you need is your name, address, and a phone number.

Watson Township

Watson Township supervisors have scheduled the Spring Clean-up day for township residents and campers for Saturday, May 5, from 8 a.m till 2 p.m.

At the next meeting set for Feb. 15, the township will be adopting an ordinance to post township roads with a 10 ton weight limit restriction.

Chinese Auction

VFW Ladies Auxiliary members will be holding a Chinese Auction on Saturday, Feb. 25 during the Chili Cook Off.

Anyone wishing to donate items for the auction can drop items off at the Post Home anytime before the 25 or contact Barb Downey at 589-7508 or Beverly Stotler at 484-3549.

Proceeds from this Chinese Auction will benefit Cancer Research.
