Eisenhower's boys basketball team got contributions from its two seniors - and everyone else - on senior night on Saturday at Eisenhower High School.
"You have peaks and valleys and I kind of felt we were in a valley, but everybody played a good game (on Saturday)," said Eisenhower coach Dave Allenson, whose Knights defeated Corry, 56-43, in a non-region game. "We haven't played a complete game, for one thing, and there was hustle the whole time and everybody contributed - both the seniors stepped up big."
In a balanced scoring attack, seniors Joe Rutsky and Josh Deppas scored nine and seven points, respectively. Andrew Onoratti led with 11, Colin Shine had nine, Ryan Williams and Aaron Lundmark seven each, and Nathan O'Brien six points.
"We're playing a little smarter and learning how to finish the game," said Allenson, "which we have not done in the past. We didn't turn the ball over against these guys."
Eisenhower is 10-7 overall, and has a stretch of four Region 3 games out of five total in the next two weeks to finish the season. First, Ike (2-2 in region) hosts Conneaut Lake (7-11, 2-3) on Tuesday, is at Otto-Eldred for a non-region makeup game on Wednesday, and at Conneaut Valley (9-9, 0-5) on Friday. The Knights then play first-place Cochranton (5-0) and second-place Linesville (3-2) next week.
