BRADFORD -After a huge Region 6 win at North East on Thursday, Warren's girls basketball team didn't fare so well against undefeated Bradford on Saturday in a non-region game.
Undefeated Bradford (18-0) jumped out to a 16-7 first-quarter lead and never looked back, beating the Dragons, 51-36, at Bradford Area High School.
"It wasn't pretty, but we have to bounce back," said Warren coach Lisa Ruhlman, a 1997 graduate of Bradford.
Having won nine straight against Bradford, Warren jumped out to a 4-0 lead on free throws by Emily Sherman and a jumper form Sabrina Anderson, but Bradford quickly went on an 8-0 run to take the lead. They ended the quarter up by nine after a 6-0 run.
Bradford actually led 24-7 with five minutes left in the half after 14 unanswered points off a full-court trap defense.
But Warren battled back to down 12 points, 26-14, when Eaton scored five of seven straight Warren points.
Warren cut the Bradford lead to 10 points halfway through the fourth but that's as close as the Dragons got.
Eaton led with 18 points for Warren (12-5 overall), and Anderson had nine in the loss. Sherman led with nine rebounds.
Warren is in a third-place tie with North East in Region 6 at 6-3, and hosts second-place General McLane (7-2) Tuesday. The Dragons then visit first-place Mercyhurst Prep (9-0 in region) on Thursday.
