Freshmen hoops
The Warren Dragons Freshmen boys topped Strong Vincent, 45-31, on Saturday to move their overall season mark to 8-6. Ryan Shattuck had a monster game with 13 points while controlling the boards on both ends of the court. Matt Hultquist chipped in 12 points. The Dragons host Jamestown on Monday and then play host to Oil City on Wednesday. Both games have 4 p.m. tip-offs.

Jimmy Kramer finished first in the U10, 70-pound division; Bill Anderson second at U8, 85; Carter Borland second at U10, heavyweight; Austyn Cummings second at U12, 125; Winston Pillsbury third at U10, 85; Kramer, again, third at U12, 70; Nolan Nudd fourth at U10, 110; Owen Balas fourth at U12, 80; Austin Sweeney Rogers fourth at U12, 85, and; Dominic Caprino fourth at U12, 110.

Representing Eisenhower youth wrestling, Logan Jaquay was fourth on Saturday at Titusville in the 9&10, 60 division, and Cael Black fourth at 9&10, 120.
On Sunday, Thomas Baran was first at 9&10, 70 at the Union City Bracketed Novice Tournament, and Sam Holt fourth there at 11&12, 80.
Jr. high wrestling
Seven Beaty Warren Middle School wrestlers placed in the top four in their weight classes at Saturday's Union City Jr. High Tournament. Jacob Fankhouser was second at 75 pounds, Blake Ristau second at 90, Derek Reagle second at 145, Jake Engstrom third at 85, Kyle Traut fourth at 165, Hunter Egger fourth at 185, and Stephen Crone fourth at 210.
Ranked wrestlers
Eisenhower junior Jake Johnson is ranked fourth at 195 pounds in this week's District 10 Class AA Rankings by Dan Albaugh at d10wrestling.com. Youngsville freshman Aaron Hoover is sixth at 113 pounds, and sophomore teammate Jaykup Durlin sixth at 220.
College news
Sheffield High School graduate Tessa Vargas had 23 points and seven steals on Saturday for Penn State DuBois in a 69-55 women's basketball win over Penn College. DuBois is in first place in the Penn State University Athletic Conference, and ranked 16th in United States College Athletic Association national polls.

Warren Area High School sophomore Kelsey Nuhfer was part of California University's second-place 200 free relay team on Saturday at a five-team dual swim meet hosted by Pitt.

Warren Area High School graduate Katie Spade was part of the first-place women's distance medley for Penn State Behrend's women's track teams on Saturday at the Mt. Union Invitational in Alliance, Ohio.
Spade was also part of the first-place 4x400-meter relay in the final.

Warren Area High School graduate Hollie Rapp finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Pitt-Bradford's women's basketball team on Saturday in a 69-59 win over Penn State Altoona in Bradford.
